I don't know if it's since been refuted, I haven't paid a ton of attention since it all happened. Weren't their initial reports that Miller blocked her car, or the car she was riding in, from leaving with his own vehicle?

This was refuted albeit from his attorney.

I wonder how the mother feels about the boyfriend flashing a gun at a bunch of guys.

"When you go out to a club with a gun, what do you think is going to happen?"

"When you go out to a club with a gun and flash someone the gun and threaten them, what do you think is going to happen?"

"If the boyfriend didn't bring a gun and threaten a bunch of guys at a club, my daughter would not be dead."

Come on man, you don't know if he lacks remorse. Don't base it on what his lawyers told him to say 4 months later.
He said right away that it was "heart breaking"

Apparently, the whole thing is on videotape and that was supposedly debunked.

It was also speculated that the videotape shows that his teammates didn't shoot first, but returned fire.

Got it.

But that's the thing. We dont even know how he feels because of how much the college/ his coach/ and lawyers are speaking on his behalf. We don't literally have anything to go by.

I don't know what happened that night, so I can't come to a conclusion on that topic but I'm assuming you mean Miles and not Miller. (Miles is the other accused person.)

But my post suggested that while the victim's mother places the blame on Miller, she could quite easily put it on the boyfriend as well.

If he never flashes a gun and threatens another person, that person never "asks" Miller for "protection against the threat".

I'd say BOTH parties were in the wrong from the limited knowledge that I do have.

I'd say the boyfriend shouldn't have escalated the situation.

And I'd say that Miles and Davis should have immediately left and/or called the police.
 
Ya i meant Miles. But the both sides argument really does nothing for me. The boyfriend's gun was not the one used to kill her. Of course the grieving mother will mention the weapon that did.

That's how you SHOULD handle a criminal matter. I get it, we want to see remorse. We want to see that he realizes he made a mistake and that he didn't mean for it to happen. But legally, he can only hurt himself if he speaks publicly. He either stands to lose A LOT of money, or he could potentially face charges. There is no logical reason for him to say anything about what transpired.
 
Also intersting from the locked on Hornets guys... Miller is "interviewing" with the team. Doesn't seem like there is a workout. This is not unusual for top 3 guys, but noteable in contrast to Scoot working out with us this wknd.

And if it's true the boyfriend started shooting first, then what?

I mean, I understand her perspective, I was just stating that she's not exactly an impartial observer and that any half-decent attorney would call bullshit on that quote.

In my opinion, considering all of the information that the authorities have (phone records, witness accounts, depositions, video evidence) I think it is more than telling that Miller has been let "off the hook".

So my opinion stays the same. People with a lot more information than we have said he did nothing wrong. And the justice system isn't exactly known for being lenient.

Interesting. I thought there was a report that he wanted to blow them away in his workout so he could get a guarantee for #2.

I'd say that would be a major misstep given all the uncertainty around him.

He definitely needs to work out IMO.

Would also like to see he has been working on his handle since the end of the season.
 
My take on Miller and the Blazers :

I think the Blazers have little to no interest in Scoot in terms of him being on the Blazers with Dame so I think they are deciding / exploring 3 options. I think the obvious first one is trade the pick for a star and will keep saying that is prolly the first three options on there board. Then I think the next option is draft Miller or one of the Thompson twins prolly Amen then try and use assets like 23rd pick , maybe still use Ant and/or Nurk to get more pieces to build the team around Dame. I think the one option not many mention is trade Ant for many pieces like trade him for one or two 1st rounders and a couple useful bench / role players but that is tougher since we have to trust Cronin but I have gotten off topic a tad.

If it were me and it came down to Miller or one of the Thompson twins cause no trade could be found I think I would go Miller since he is more ready even with some character issues. Then I would trade Ant and / or Nurk for more pieces cause I think this team has to make a bold but gamble of a move aka thinking out of the box IF they really want to get Dame a legit chance at a ring. Now the real question is do the Blazers and Cronin have the balls to do it cause I for one do not think they do. I think they are thinking in Black and white like -- Trade for a Star OR Trade Dame and rebuild when I think there is the 3rd option of having your cake and get more too but like I said that is tougher and depends on Cronin being able to craft such moves.
 
I have not read the official report. I'm just commenting on what i've read of the account from you all. First off, it's super sad that a girlfriend (bystander in this dick pissing contest) was put in harms way by both parties, and ultimately lost her life. Second , the lack of restraint and smarts by both men is the reason she is dead today. Both, the man who shot her ( murderer), and the boyfriend (accessory to the murder) are at full fault of this situation by letting it escalate. When Miller was called by his friend , did Miller tell his friend to leave the area. Deescalate the situation. Obviously Miller shouldn't have brought the gun to his friend. That was a bad move. Maybe his friend is an overbearing guy who scared Miller. Maybe Miller was afraid his friend might do something to him if he didn't. If it was for protection, his friend should have called the police. This ain't the OK Corral. What's done is done. Only Miller knows. That's some tough baggage to have to carry.

I'm not going to judge the mom. Her baby is gone . Her pain is forever . Not sure i wouldn't be blaming everyone involve in this tragedy as well.

Kinda seems like maybe we released the video footage to try to drum up some excitement in case he drops.

I think Cronin and his staff are all in on taking advantage of the special player / person Dame is. These chances to add to a generational talent don't come calling very often. You have to milk it till it's dry.
 
I think there's a good chance that Miller doesn't work out for us.... or anyone. If he's really still recovering from his illness.
 
As far as the video of the workout. I like what i see. He's obviously been working out hard because he's lathered up as Terry Porter use to call it. I like that they show the misses followed by a ton of makes in a roll. His shot looks effortless. He will have to work on the crossover move . It has to be quicker, and tighter. But it's really all about the off court situation as to if the Blazers are all in. We won't know that till the Draft. I think if they love Miller, they draft him. If they're are worried about the other issue, they'll trade the pick to go after Bridges.

What illness? Because there's plenty of time before the Draft to conduct a workout.

Why would he or his agent OK this video get out there? This does nothing to refute Givony's comments a few weeks ago about him looking poor in workouts.

I wouldn't have put out this video. His game film is much better. He is obviously still suffering from the after effects of mono. All of those little layups were jams in games. His handle was much tighter. Even as impressive as his jumper was in the video I think it looked better against live opponents.

The fact is I don't think a video like this or not working out really has sway with our FO given that we now have Schmitz. Our FO knows who these guys are. The only problem might be that this kind of shit gives our pick less value but a top three pick is still worth a helluva lot on draft day. Just wait and see for 17 more days.
