I haven't really made my mind about Miller and I know this is nit picking but... while he shoots a good percentage I find it odd how often his shot isn't a clean swish. There seem to be a lot side swishes or not clean makes. Just makes me wonder why and if it is a form thing or what. Or again maybe I am just being over critical but I've noticed it a few times.

Fran Fraschilla said Miller has perfect form and when he sees him shoot they look like they're all going to go in.
And that Brandon Miller is the prototype of an NBA small forward.

Cued up to where they talk about Brandon Miller.

In the video, Fran also pointed out that Miles Bridges is a restricted free agent for Charlotte and that he has served 20 games of a 30 game suspension. If Charlotte brings Bridges back, would they want to draft Miller who plays the same position? Just another factor.

“Miller's fit on the Hornets is without question cleaner, considering how little talent Charlotte has on the wing. His ability to make shots in dynamic fashion from all over the floor, create for others off a live dribble, defend multiple positions and generally play the big guard/wing role every NBA team covets currently gives him the edge for me both in terms of fit and long-term”

From Givony’s mock draft this morning.

Miles at the 4, Miller at the 3; and they’re both pretty switchy.

Still can’t believe we’re even talking about Miles Bridges‚ blech.

A lot of pundits don't. Character, athleticism, ability to finish are some of the reasons being listed. I think everyone
acknowledges that he'll be good, but some don't believe he will become a star.

That and having a Meyers Leonard-esque dip in his shooting form.

I feel like a lot of people are overthinking Brandon miller. He’s Khris Middleton at worst. That’s insanely valuable.
He is going to be a baller, and he is going to be a player that helps teams win. People are waaaay overthinking this.

I blame analytics.
His numbers say he didn't score at the rim so therefore he never will be able to............

Analytics actually grades him out very favorably.
For example, he rates #3 in Box +/-, #4 in Defensive Win Shares, and #10 in Total Win Shares in the NCAA

Next Pipp lol.

drafting Amen and him being a great player is my favorite timeline by far, but the anxiety as he rebuilds his jumper in the g-league would be tough.

amen to Badji in the summer league would light the internet on fire.

I think you're right. It seems when many people think/talk of Miller it's mainly his great shooting, which some of them critique.
Then they make no mention of his 8.2 rebounds per game, his solid defense, and legit passing skills.

At worst? Middleton is an all star and was a #1 option to finish out quite a few games in their title run.

I think Miller's floor is closer to Harrison Barnes.

harrison Barnes is not the shooter, passer, or defender miller is.

Unless it happened prior to where you cued it up, Fran did not say he has perfect form. He said he has a "pure, repeatable, mechanical, simple, flawless shooting stroke, when open". The when open part is the concern for me and thats related to his shot mechanics which are far from perfect. Miller does a pronounced dip with the ball prior to going up and the release point is in front of his face instead of on top of his head to the side of his shooting hand. The dip results in a slower release and the lower release point makes his J susceptible to being affected by the defender. Perfect form is Klay Thompson's J. Yes Fran said "when it leaves his hand, it always looks like they're going in" which I again would agree with. The issue he's going to have is getting it off.

If his shot mechanics were closer to Klay's, I'd love him as a prospect. Outside shooting is largely about confidence which takes a hit if a shooter isn't sure he's going to be able to cleanly get it off. I suspect the longer quicker defenders every NBA team features will cause him trouble and question whether he's got the quickness & game to take guys off the dribble when they play too much up on him. He's got some work to do if he's going to max out his potential. At the very least he needs to get rid of the preshot dip.

When Ant came in to the league he showed the ball before going through shooting motion. Still does it at times.

Not concerned with Miller's dip the same way I was not concerned with Dame's low release.
But then I am not expecting him to be all-nba.

My question, if we did draft Miller, is what to do with Grant.
Having 2 forwards on the court at the same time weighing in between 200-210 is not "physical" enough. Miller would have to back Grant up IMO at SF and sign a physical rebounder at PF.

Barnes is a 39% 3pt shooter from the NBA line over his 11 yr career. As far as passing, the negative ato ratio that Miller has in college is not indicative of his creation ability at the nba level. He's a solid defender in college. I will give you that, but Barnes is no turnstile. Neither player will be lockdown.

My comment was more about Miller's floor being an all star caliber wing. I don't really see that. I see his floor as an average starter who can spot up.

If we are bringing in Miller to come off the bench, I'd rather trade down one spot and go for Amen. I thought the whole idea of Miller was that he would make an immediate impact.

From everything I have read and my gut tells me Miller is going number two in the draft. We will have to make sense of Scoot and what we do at number 3.

I don't think there is one player in the draft (other than Victor) who is ready to start from day 1. But similar to Sharpe, they will be after a year. I don't disagree that Amen could be the right choice though.
