Did they ever decide on what they were going to use the Post Office campus in the Pearl for? I remember there were like 3 or 4 different ideas but I never heard the result..

Homeless camp. This will allow us to attract the best homeless people from the US and around the world.

I hear The Oregon Zoo is working on a Homeless Hominids exhibit scheduled for opening November 2018.

The expansion renderings wont be released for another week or two. I think this "stadium district" will be the next boom area after the Lloyd/Burnside area. The expansion alone is going to be a $50m investment!

Speaking of Burnside -- This project is going to change the feel in this part of the district - even more so than the SkyLab project next door:

Even the Towne Storage building is getting a full renovation:

This area is FINALLY starting to get dense -- PSU is on a roll with their development of their campus. The $100m facility just a few blocks from the Koin Tower:

Just a block away this is well underway as well:

Wow, I am reading through this now and stopped on the ash dusting.

First, Fez, Thanks for this Great stuff so far!!! Much respect!@

However I had to stop at someone saying you were wrong about the dusting in Portland. I was on the street that morning playing on the edge of the front yard. I remember looking up and seeing it (NE Portland, Great views).
I remember the next day a buildup on the edge of the yard where it met the street. Not much, but enough to scoop up a small vial and save it. I have three of them in a box in the garage.

A really cool city. I've got to visit. On my bucket list. Great Pictures. I noticed no debris on the streets.

Don't be fooled. Some of those pics are computer images of proposals done so well they look real. Portland definitely has its share of trash.

With that said, I think we are a pretty cool city overall.

The blocks near the warerfront are a'booming - most of them haven't yet or they've just broke ground on their projects.

Burnside is on fire with all the development - with more in the pipeline.

Final design - approved today by the PDC:

This was very early in their design - posting these for scale:

That corner is cornering the market on butt ugly buildings.

I like them all except the Skylab project. Epic fail. The orig. design was great - the changes they made when it was 75% finished ruined it all.

Barfo will love this one, I do, and it's going up just a few blocks east:

I love those building down by the Burnside bridge. Very European feel. Look like some buildings I've seen in London and Amsterdam.

So, they're re-cladding the Portland building. The metal paneling replacing stucco is going to make a massive change ..for the better. I loathe stucco with a passion.

Keep in mind this will be a $250m project.

Placesovertime:

"In the end, after all this dust settles, most passersby probably won’t even notice the drastic change from stucco and concrete to painted metal panel or that the building envelope will soon be seven inches wider than before."

I could immediately tell from the images that the building was 7" wider.

I'll give Portlandia 7" for $250 million.

Dear Portland,

Your traffic sucks. WTF? And. No room to expand or improve upon the existing infrastructure. It's only going to get worse.

I've been through town 4 times in the past 8 days - I really cannot believe how shitty it's gotten, and it can be extremely shitty at any time of day. When the apocalypse happens, or some sort of serious disaster, all you MF'ers living on top of each other will struggle to survive in a perilous battle.
