If it's Sexton for CJ better add Love. Not a huge Colin fan but he's serviceable.

Makes absolutely no sense. Even if it was in the situation where Dame asked for a trade, Sexton is up for extension, and likely going to want a near max or max deal. If you're moving on from Dame, I don't want to immediately hop right back into cap hell.

There's no chance in hell we trade Dame for Sexton.

Yeah, sorry, I worded that poorly.

The tweet I posted said he's on the radar, "if needed", so I meant, if we trade Dame to a different team, and then turn around and trade for Sexton in a separate or 3 team deal. But, overall, it still works out to Sexton ++ for Dame, and I agree, not happening.

The Cavs are 16M under the cap which means they could take back an extra 20M in a trade.

God, no. There's a reason they want to trade him. Why would you trade a young "star" if you're Cleveland? Answer: he's a ballhogging loser.

(I presume the trade would be something like CJ for Love+Sexton. Ugh.)

I don't want Sexton. If Dame goes, so goes the entire roster. Blow. That. Shit. Up.
That's the only way we'd be taking Sexton... I think he would be part of our youth movement. Like I said, Dame goes to Philly for a package that centers around Simmons... CJ goes home to Ohio for Sexton and filler because the Cavs can take on all but 11M of CJs contract... and the blowup goes on from there. RoCo would probably go, I would think if Simmons came in that Nurk would go, DJJ is pretty young so he'd probably opt in, Norm would be out of here for nothing.

When I hear Sexton, it just seems like it would be a young team based around Simmons and Sexton. Honestly, if they're blowing the whole thing up, that doesn't sound like a bad place to start.

We have to finagle the #3 pick in any deal with Cleveland and draft the Chauncey Billups clone — SUGGS :bored:

Doesn't make a lot of sense. He's short, so that's not a good fit for the backcourt, and it doesn't appear that his defense is any good.

I doubt he'd come off the bench either.

At first I thought this would be a CJ deal. But the follow up tweet suggests it's a contingency plan if they trade Lillard. That would mean the team is interested in at least fielding offers for Dame for the first time since Dame was drafted. Whether we can win with Dame as the #1 option on a supermax is definitely a question they should explore. Still, it can't feel good to hear that as a Blazers fan.

you know, the more smoke there is, the worse the fire could be.

It's tough because the internet is a place where any goof can make up anything they want.

With that said, Dame simply has not come out and flatly denied anything, and that's not good. Honestly, I don't think Neil can build a contender around Dame. Not on the level that supposedly would make him happy. So if that's the case, you trade Dame. You trade CJ. You trade Nurk. You start over.

It makes "Anything I have to say I'm going to say directly to Neil." feel a little more ominous. That conversation could have been as simple as Dame telling him if the team can't contend next season that he wants to be moved to a team that can.
