Should we match Brooklyn's offer sheet for Allen Crabbe?

We can't trade him without his permission, or to BKN at all for 1 year.

I don't think the permission thing is that big of a deal. Any team willing to trade for Crabbe at that price is probably going to start him, which is what he wants. Plus trade bonus money.

that's what I'm saying. It's not a no-trade clause, it's a stipulation in the rules of S&T's.

He was so good that our first move was to sign a guy to replace him with the coach saying there was a weakness we needed to address at his position.
LOL, no kiddin and right on. Crabbe is not worth that contract and will not be an "asset" to trade because of that contract and ONE more pt many don't know about is that if a team is into Lux tax territory which the Blazers would likely be if they keep Crabbe and pay CJ next summer - then the trade restrictions are even tougher for those teams. All in all Crabe should be let go, it is a NO brainer.

Late to the party. been on vacation and trying to keep up as a guest when I could. :)
There should be an undecided option.

Man, the nets smacked us in the face with this one. It's a lose lose situation. High risk/mediocre reward, almost either way you go. I have to say you let him go though only because I have faith in Olshey and Stotts, and they seem to have faith in PAtty C and Montero. IF these guys get some burn this year, I think they might just wiggle into a serviceable option at times (certain match ups) and they might just do what Crabbe did last year.

Once we sign CJ, we wont have any way to improve this team, other than internal development, and I don't like that inflexibility. Pretty sure Olshey doesn't either.

The thing is, if we wanted to keep him and the resat of the team, we would have already matched i'm thinking, but NO is trying to work some though out so we don't lose him for free. Pretty sure we lose him though.
If he can somehow swing something where we get something in return, he is gonna be in contention for GM of the year again.

So excited about our future overall. The direction we are taking is as commendable as it can be. The players NO are bringing in are stand up, top notch kids. Rare in today's world of thuggary. :)
FUCKIN A NO. Do your thing. I trust in ya!

This was maybe a once in a lifetime payday for Crabbe...like Wes last year..they'll never see those dollars next time around..I can't fault his decision.

When is the deadline for matching?

I think Neil match the way he sound when talking on his press conference he already said he already got his 15 players and he was counting his 3 RFA in that 15.

No way. I'd sit crabbe down and tell him how restricted free agency works. If he wants a starting job he can go out and earn one.
I don't like what's happening. I don't think it is fair or just that portland's organization and coaches spend three years developing Crabbe into a good NBA player (and he sure as hell was not that when he first got drafted. And then some other club is allowed to challenge us with this crazy contract. I think that just looking at the contract shows that Crabbe is disloyal and does not want to be here. I mean he could have seen what they were going to offer and gone back to the Blazers and asked if they could give him close to that. Why would we want him on our team and will it be possible to trade him, especially if he has a bad year on the first year of the contract?
Well, after saying that, I may be using some hyperbole. I guess if I had to make the decision, I would want to get more info on Crabbe's mindset.

Sadly.... we still have fax machines. They still exist. Damn old people and their refusal to step into the 21st century.

MEM just got Troy Daniels as a FA. But they arranged a S&T with CHA to generate a Trade Exception. If we're letting AC go, can we at least get a 9 mil TE (50% of first year value)?

Neil is too stubborn for that.

He could've done that last year with LMA/SA but acted like a woman scorned. A TPE and Kyle Anderson would've been A LOT better than the cap room - which is useless in this market.

And why would the Spurs give Kyle Anderson when they could sign LMA for free?

Hence the Dame eye-roll??

Enjoy being a starter on a shit team with a shit haircut. Hell i cant blame him that is stupid money for a 3 and d guy that cant dribble.

For me, it's the haircut combined with the ears. Now, if he straightened his hair out "appropriation-style" and covered his ears with hippie locks, I'd love it!

It's strange, but I dig his hair. There is a bit of a fad with that style currently, but Crabbe decided to just do it bigger and more flamboyantly than anyone else. For a quiet guy who who keeps to himself, that takes some real chutzpah.
