Should we match Brooklyn's offer sheet for Allen Crabbe?

Riverman, we agree on something lol. Im on the patty c bandwagon too. I was impressed with how the organization has high hopes and faith in him. They obviously see something the majority of the rest of us have not
Not trying to be difficult but don't we hear that all the time? These guys are basically paid to be optimistic about their players

Once he is ready to go even odds on that proposed bet he did then I am all ears and on-board.
I would never bet money with some random on a chatsite & this guy hasn't come off as stand up sort who'd pay anyway. If I were you I'd take his backpedal as an internet win and move along.

Don't bet with @HCP.

How the hell am I backpeddling? I seriously want to know your reasons now.

Let me ask you a question; If at anytime during the duration of the four year contract, Crabbe suffers a career-ending injury does KOR win the bet or is the bet called off?

The bet is based around performance on the court. Should he win based off bad luck? Crabbe won't make the All-star team by lucking into it so why should KOR win because of it?

What is your opinion and why? Would welcome everyone else's opinion on the matter as well.

Personally, I find it a lot more fun to be optimistic..find some joy in the process..it's the coulda shoulda woulda dialogue that I seem to hear more than the supportive environment..negative affirmations really in the end accomplish nothing unless the team is totally dysfunctional

My opinion (since you welcomed it) is that if you are making a statement that a player is going to be an all star within the next 4 years, you are making that statement because you personally believe it to be more likely than not that he makes it. If you didn't believe it to be more likely than not, than you most likely would have phrased your claim differently ("there's a possibility" or "he has a chance" or "he might reach all star caliber" or something like that).

Therefore, since your statement indicated that you believe an all star berth in the next 4 years is more likely than not - all potential obstacles considered - then it's silly to be requesting less than even odds.

If Crabbe starts for the Nets he'll get to play with TRob again

you ask a lot of questions. I'll answer just the first one, again, as obviously this is going nowhere. You backpedal when you don't back your claim that initially you were so sure of you went ALL CAPS on us. Demanding double back in a bet you're instigating is on it's face backpedaling.

Thank you for your opinion. I do see your reasoning now about evening the odds of the bet. Thank you for explaining it in a rational manner and not being a dick about it.

Could I hear your opinion and thoughts on the winning or not winning on luck part?

That's how I have always made bets and no one has ever had a problem with it until you apparently. Whoever takes the part of the bet where the most risk is involved gets paid more then the person who takes the least amount of risk part of the bet. I have had to pay double before because I lost a bet where it was 2:1 odds( Could my friend from middle school make a half court shot in three tries? He did and I paid him $50.)

Don't criticise and belittle someone you talk to on a message board because you have no idea how that person was brought up or raised and how that person was taught or shown a way of doing things differently than you.

Could you please answer the question I asked about winning a bet around luck?

Thank you.

Ok, if he has a terrible injury you can void the bet.

In any case the chance of such an injury is not that high that would justify 2:1 odds.

You carried around $50 in middle school? Hey man, is your father hiring? How's your mother's health? Need me to take any tests for you?

It is what I had left over from a $200 birthday check from my grandmother( on my dad's side of the family.)

I actually agree with you, I just dose their comments about unseen/unproven rooks with a dose of reality

I'm a big fan of measuring my words, so I guess I look at things that can be chalked up luck as things that should be factored in prior to the initial statement, let alone the proposal of a bet. If injuries are a concern, then as another poster suggested, that should be specified in advance ("Crabbe will be an all star if he doesn't get injured"). Otherwise, I think the inherent risk of luck simply needs to be accepted when predicting an event to occur.

I'll be blunt, Crabbe will NEVER be an all star IMO

I can't make a choice. To me it comes down to Olshey sitting down and talking with Crabbe. If he gets a sense that Crabbe is definitely not going to be happy here, that he is definitely not going to be happy with playing 26 minutes a game again, then I think he has to let him go.

This is exactly how I feel about it.

No way. I'd sit crabbe down and tell him how restricted free agency works. If he wants a starting job he can go out and earn one.

So, I feel the Blazers should match the offer from the Nets. We can't afford to let assets go for nothing.
Yep but if that offer includes a no-trade clause then we're stuck with an asset we don't really need at $20M a year and will be paying 75% of our cap to backcourt, with one of them a rotation player, starting next year when CJ signs.

We just can't trade him for 1 year. His offer doesn't (and can not) include a no trade clause

I'm not too familiar with Crabman, why is he getting offered Arab money?
He's an inconsistent one trick pony with "journeyman" stamped all over him. But Brooklyn's cupboard is bare, and despite having a new GM, they have a long history of making stupid moves.....

Yeah he seems like a Marshon Brooks kinda player in terms of value.

He was so good that our first move was to sign a guy to replace him with the coach saying there was a weakness we needed to address at his position.

The thing is, even with his contract being what it is, we have enough cheap contracts that we could put together a package that might be enticing to a team. I think we can move him.
