Would you like to see Crabbe get some of Wright's minutes?

For December, Wright is shooting 28% from three and 30% from 2. He hit a couple of big threes last night, and I realize that the threat of his shooting has value on the court, but would you like to see Stotts at least give Crabbe a shot?

Maybe the game against Philly would be a good opportunity to play Crabbe a bit more with Williams out.

How could any of us answer this question? We don't know how good he is. Stotts does.

Wright has been fine. The threat of hitting the 3 is almost as important as hitting the 3 in Stott's offense. The team is 19-4 with good chemistry. Maybe we could be 20-3 if Crabbe played a bit better than Wright, but why risk it? Is it really worth messing with a lineup that's on pace to win 65+ games? (Not saying they will, per say)

Plus, Wright is a plus on defense, and rarely makes stupid mistakes. He's fine.

No, Wright does a lot of other positive things on the court. It might not look like it when we compare him to our other starters. But if we throw in a young rookie with holes in his game like Crabbe then Wrights defense and court awareness would be far more apparent. We have a great rotation, it won't be changed unless there is an injury.

We just need some more blow out wins! Give our starters some reset and lets us watch the young guys play.

Well, that's kind of the point. Wright isn't playing well, so maybe try someone else?

But Stotts is the only one who is informed enough to make that decision. If Stotts thought Crabbe was better than Wright, he'd play him.

Is it a great rotation if a few of the players in the rotation are playing badly?

I'm not saying we take out Wright completely, but we currently have a 9 man rotation. Maybe we should at least give Crabbe a little burn until CJ is healthy enough to see the court.

I think Wright is better than he's shown. I think you keep playing Wright and put him in positions to succeed. He needs to get into a rhythm. I think Mo takes everyone out of their game, Lillard included. Make Mo run plays for Wright until Wright gets it going. The next time Mo ignores a hot-shooting wide-open teammate, hit him with a fucking cattle prod. But I digress.

No I would not do that; Wright already plays limited minutes, if anything he needs more time on the court to improve. He has a long history of being a good shooter and I trust that history more than a small sample size of a few games here or there he may be struggling in. Reducing Wrights minutes would likely lower his production.

So where does CJ get his minutes when he comes back?

Most likely there will be somebody on the team with an injury by that time. If not; well we cross that bridge when we come to it. CJ is a far better talent than Crabbe but he may get near zero minutes at first. CJ is a 4 year player Crabbe isn't very NBA ready yet.

19-4

Why do so many posters want to make rotation changes?

How do we not know how good he is?

He has played in 6 games which is roughly a 1/4 of the games. Portland has played in a 1/4 of the games and you think they are a championship team.

Crabbe averages 20.6 per 36 minutes and is shooting 1000% from 3.

I'd like to see Claver get some of Wright's minutes. I am not impressed with Wright, he reminds me of a Babbitt, but Babbitt actually made his 3's.

Perhaps we're 19-4 because our starters are fucking amazing, and (as pointed out on TNT last night) are averaging over 80 points per game?

Just because the team is winning doesn't mean that zero changes should be made to the rotation.

Dorell Wright in December - 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, 30% FG, 28% from three, 62.5% FT in 13 .4 minutes per game

Mo Williams in December - 9.1 points, 3.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 40.6% FG, 36.8% from three, 83% FT in 23.4 MPG

Joel Freeland in December - 2.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 41% FG in 14.4 MPG

Thomas RObinson in December - 5.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 48.5% FG, 90% FT in 12 minutes per game.

In December, Robinson is easily our best bench player. Who would have predicted that?

I'm not sure anyone would have even hoped for that given what we hoped from other players

Why oil light came on, but my car is not broken. Should I fix it?

Actually it is broken if the light came on.

Yeah, but let's just disrupt team chemistry which is great especially since we are the hottest team in the league and on the second hottest steak in team history.

What better way to piss off a veteran who has won an nba championship than to give his minutes to a rookie that has played 10 nba minutes

The true chemistry is in the starting five. The second unit has no chemistry to speak of.

There's a set rotation. We're hot. We're winning. Any major changes can offset number of factors negatively.

Like I said if we start losing and the weaknesses are the cause then adjust.

Winning teams just don't make major lineup changes on a whim without external factors.

I do get your point, and I basically agree to not fuck up a good thing. I just think Wright looks to be slumping. It might be a good idea to try out some younger guys on an easier stretch. It seems like a good idea to give some of our starters some extra rest.

My gut feeling is that throwing Crabbe (2nd round pick) into the rotation over a seasoned veteran like Wright would not be a smart move. Especially from a defensive standpoint. I don't care how bad Dorrell has played he is still going to be better than Crabbe at this moment in time.

Plus what message does that send to your team that is currently in 1st place? There may be warning signs, but in this particular scenario you only make that type of change after an injury or a long losing streak. The other vets would not respect Terry for making that move at this time.

Here's the problem, our second unit IS hurting us. They lose leads in virtually every game, and/or allow the other team to build on a lead. Last night we saw it twice against Houston. When we go with Mo, Dame, Wright, Robinson, Freeland, we get hammered.

Something has to change in that equation. Either Stotts needs to switch it up and play a different combination of starters and bench players, OR someone new needs to come into the equation. Hopefully CJ can be that someone.
