So Comcast is really upping their douchebaggery.

They're trying to force me into a two-year contract, which is bullshit, and I swear my prices go up every month. We have HD, we have internet, and we have phone through Comcast.

Obviously there's DirectTV, but is there really an alternative for internet? I'm happy with my cable internet, but I'm getting very annoyed with Comcast. The phone we can live without, but it's a nice perk.

Right now we're spending $140 a month. At one point it jumped up to $200 and we had to cut a few things. The biggest bullshit is all the fees they heap on their customers.

I'm open to any ideas.

Go with Fios (if it is available in your area). They don't play "jack my price up" and you can have internet at the same speed. Also, it's FAR cheaper than ComCrap.

But you can't get the Blazer and PAC-12 games, can you?

Last time I checked, Fios wasn't available in SW Portland. I would have changed if it was.

My best friend has Fios and we watch Blazer games at his house all the time. He has a 50+ Inch samsung.

This is my problem too.

I'm not sure why.... you'd think Verizon would WANT To expand into Portland.

How exactly are they trying to force you into contract? was it on your latest bill or something?

I have until... Monday I think..... to decide if I want to do a contract for two years at a fixed rate or see my rates increase every month.

I always thought the lack of contracts was a great part of cable companies vs dish or directv. All you have to do is call and complain about your service and threaten to switch to satellite and they'll knock some off your bill. Personally I think all of them are trying to bleed you dry before everyone realizes we don't need them to watch television.

I tried to get Comcast to give me a better deal on internet, but they wouldn't budge. I've heard Century Link or whatever is pretty unreliable.

Yeah, I think those days are over. They're pushing for a 2 year deal now, and they've been really fucking me over on my monthly bills. Prices have been going up, and threatening to cancel doesn't work anymore. Their internet is basically a monopoly and unless you want dish, that's your only other option. I've considered ditching television, but what would I do about watching the Ducks/Blazers?

Well, well, well... Wifey just showed me our new Comcast bill. I got all three on a special for $104/mo for 1 year and all fees/hook up charges waived. The first bill is $166. Looks like a trip to Comcast is in order today.

Let me know how that goes. I suspect they'll tell you about a 2 year contract.

Just curious, but what does $104/mo get you up there?

My speed when I was on 10mbps was unreliable, but I never had issues with connection. I dropped to 1mbps at 40$/mo now though

Free streams are always available for Blazers games.

How can you test your internet speed?

Nevermind....... is this good?
