This reminds me of 1966 or 1967. In the newspapers appeared a couple of articles claiming that the new drug of choice was banana peels. I forget whether they were sniffed, snorted, or smoked but it said that this was being done.

A few days later, in the weekly full-page ad from the grocery store with many products pictured next to their sale prices, the drawing of bananas was in color, yellow. The store had highlighted bananas and paid for color. A few years later, when the CIA revelations came out, I suspected that the banana reports had been a little rumor game they had played to find who the easily-manipulated suckers were.
