I would think you guys would be pissed if Olshey matched a $45 million deal for Batum now. That's a lot of buck to tie up on a guy that averaged 13.9 and 4.6.

Not "pissed" but I do think it would be counter-productive.

I guess we'll see what happens.

Olshey on FA's: "I'm not going hamstring the org. with $7-8 million contracts on guys who don't move the needle. It's counterproductive.''>>>>

So who has a C they might want to move?
I see little we can offer realistically to Atlanta for Horford. I imagine they've explored many trades, and if someone was asking for Leonard in a deal, they would have held off on the press conference. That'd be slightly awkward.
Noah, if they wanted to match Asik, and can give them Matthews to play the 2.
varejao, if they wanted to play Humphries at C(assuming deal goes through) alongside Thompson.
Brendan haywood, if we're retarded.
Amare..see above.
Perkins, if we just feel like helping them keep Ibaka and Harden more easily.
Gortat, if we were also willing to take Childress?
Chuck Hayes and Evans
Al Jefferson in pure dump.

The Blazers' philosophy at C just changed with reported Indiana match. Olshey says development of Meyers Leonard this season now "paramount"

So does that mean he doesn't intend to match an 11.5+ million per year contract on Nicolas?

So with that news, maybe they bring in vets to teach him in practice?

Hasn't Olshey gone on record saying guys like Kaman would be be a fit?

I wish for my sanity, he would go on record and specifically say we will not pursue that ball grabber to join our team.

Sounds good to me. Maybe hire Joel for a one year deal (if he still wants to play) and let him see how a big white stiff gets it done.

Blazers will still look for a starting center, but Olshey says he won't bring in a center who "retards" Leonard's development.

Certainly eliminates McGee, no? lol

That leaves out Haywood :)

Might as well scratch McGee off that list too.

I would not put so much emphasis on a players age as much as does he simply have 4-5 good years left. If he does, then he is the the right age. Keeping anyone after that is 50/50 at best. It is rare that teams stay together very long.

Igoudala probably has 4 good ones left. But only 1-2 years on his contract. Will he opt out after a year and give up 15 mil so he can sign one more big contract. Or will he wait another year and then look to re-sign? Either way he seems too expensive.

have to get someone who is an allstar ( :MARIS61: ) or has all star potential next season or the season after. Obviously at the 2, 3 or 5 position. gotta look in that frame of mind.

in 2 years we'll have a huge expiring contract for a team wanting to clear cap room for Durant. :MARIS61: dunno about the timing.

I don't give a shit about "4-5 good years left". We need to build a team within that window anyway, then blow it up. I don't believe in slow builds....teams amass talent instantly.

Let's go after Kevin Love. I heard he's disgruntled and wants out of Minnesota...

Leonard needs to learn the "put the guard on his ass" foul.

I think Noah should be target #1, personally. But with 4 years left, could easily be seen as retarding his growth.
I don't see many great options that fit what he says of both moving the needle, not too old, and not retarding growth.

Tell you what, I'll shave some fumunda hair and give you that for Pryz. ..........Deal?

Ya, that's an interesting comment by Olshey. My guess would be someone older

I think this isn't possible now that they are going to lose Asik.

Asik would have been a good signing here. A solid stop-gap for Leonard, doesn't fuck up his development.
