I think Noah should be target #1, personally. But with 4 years left, could easily be seen as retarding his growth.
I don't see many great options that fit what he says of both moving the needle, not too old, and not retarding growth.
I suspect Dirk seeks a trade since their team is gutted and lost out on all FA's. We may be a team to help facilitate a deal. I doubt we are the team that ends up with Dirk -- although that would be pretty sweet if it did happen.

Ya, that's an interesting comment by Olshey. My guess would be someone older

am thinking the same, just scanning through rosters and salaries, and a good fit isn't really jumping out at me. I think Hayes paired with Evans might make a bit of sense. They're resigning Thompson, just drafted Robinson, Hayes at full MLE isn't really worth it there. He only has 3 years, and cheap, and won't take development time away. He did look fat as shit last season, though. He might be 400 pounds by now, I dunno.

I think this isn't possible now that they are going to lose Asik.

Asik would have been a good signing here. A solid stop-gap for Leonard, doesn't ruh-tard his development.

Moving noah would make it a lot easier to match Asik.

We were going to sign Hibbert for 4 years. I dunno what the difference is here? :dunno:

I dunno, just going off of his most recent comments.

No, I know you were. I just had had this thought all along. It wasn't a dig at you, more I'm just wondering what the plan is....

Varajao is another great option but their price tag is absurd.

Amico, a Cavs fan, would want Aldridge in return.

Agreed, though maybe when they say retard his development, it just means they don't want to bring someone in who has developing to do as well. Like, McGee, say, or something like that. Whereas hibbert doesn't really need more development, same with Noah, etc. Like, if we're focusing on developing one center, we wantit to be Leonard, so we want the trade guy to come in not needing that extra time after work with coaches. No clue. Probably just a nice way to set us up for a crap option, by saying hey, we want to develop him,a nd any good option woould take that time away

Let's be sure to sign JJ Hickson - we need some bigs if Hibbert is no longer in the cards.

Three-team trade?

Involves some S&T's:

To Indy:

Kaman (PDX signs him and then trades him?)
Williams & Barea (from TWolves)

To Portland

Hibbert (after S&T)

To TWolves

Batum (after S&T)

Sorry, don't think we're giving Williams in a S&T for Batum. Don't need to. How about Ridnour?

Well, you would NEED to, if you want to guarantee landing him.

If they are matching Hibbert, I don't think they are interested in S&T's.

Since the Blazers are under no obligation to do a sign and trade, why would they settle for just Ridnour?

Sounds like the only player Neil would have interest in on that entire roster is Love.

It's safe to say that there will be no trades between these two teams.

According to who? you rubes?

What Portland needs to do is not take on $11mil in salary every year for Batum. How does that get you Williams? It could get you Ridnour who is a decent PG.

what are you guys going to offer batum? 11? fine, we match. you move on to plan b. Do you want to guarantee you get him, by offering a good S&T? Then you don't come in with shit like Ridnour. Will it be an overpay some of us are unhappy with? Probably. Ridnour gets you nowhere. buhbye.

11million, that's ridiculous. No way we sign Batum for more than 9 million now that Hibbert window is closed. (which he isn't being offered)

Sorry, you don't match unless your GM is an idiot. We'll find out soon enough.

But your GM is an idiot to offer that? You just contradicted your position.

Sorry, but Batum will remain a Blazer.

I didn't. Batum AT THAT PRICE is a much better fit into our system than he is yours. Think about that.

So we should help out a division rival? Uh, no thanks. And Paul Allen for one wont let that happen. Keep up, man, keep up!

Pfffttt, show's how much you know. We don't have a system.

Edit: Yet...

The only thing I don't get is why 11 million a year for Portland (with a far wealthier owner) is so much worse than it would be for Minnesota?

I mean either way I think it's kind of crazy money and likely to hurt whichever team actually ends up with him.

Actually that's sort of flawed logic. If an 11-12 million/year player needs to fit into a system to be more successful, it just means that he's a role-player and not a guy you actually build around. Either a player is a "star" at the center or he's an orbital body on the periphery -- a near max deal usually is reserved for the kind of guy that doesn't just fill in the gaps (and Nic has definitely been a fill-in-the-gaps kind of player).

Noah would be my first target, but the fact that the Bulls just re-signed Hinrich suggests to me that they're not ready to tear it down yet. However, I'd offer Freeland and Leonard for Noah, no problem. (That would be a way not to retard Leonard's growth - send him to another team.)

Please stop quoting Kilkenny - it really undermines the point of the "ignore" function.
