I think we should form a volunteer posse -- naming ourselves that way would give us instant credibility.

I thought school transcripts stopped mattering ten years or so past graduation. Does this mean I have to worry about explaining that bad quarter my junior year when I had mono?

This is what we call "projection". Chris, not everyone hates people different from them. In fact, most people on the Right believe everyone is equal, hence the de-emphasis on identity politics that seems to characterize the Left.

Clearly Chris judges a person based more the color of their skin than on the content of their character.

I wonder how a person gets to view the world that way? I just don't understand it.

Does anyone else find it ironic that some people on this board think a black person elected with 53% of the vote governs a country of racists?

I find it even more funny (or is it sad?) that some people on this board think that fanatical fans of a league that is 90% black give a shit at all about a person's race. Chris is on the way, way extreme end of the left side of the political spectrum, though.

My cousin who graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1992 and grad school in '94 just had to give his transcripts to the federal government during the vetting process of his new job as a federal employee.

Also, did 40 year-old National Guard memos that turned out to be laughable fakes really matter in 2004? Maybe, maybe not, but the Dems sure seemed to want Bush's transcripts and ANG records.

False.

Not saying you're wrong on the authenticity, but there is no "highest authority" who confirmed it's real.

I'm still wondering why we can't see his college transcripts. We had Clinton's, Gore's, Dubya's, Kerry's, McCain's, and now Romney's. No Obama, though.

Why?

I don't think that's true. We've been through this before. I haven't yet seen Romney's transcript, and Google didn't immediately provide any links to it. Bush's we had only because someone (illegally) leaked it to the press. I don't believe we had McCain's, although we do know he graduated near the bottom of his class.

Feel free to post links to any of those transcripts, though!

that works too, but for a simple fact I would bet there wasn't a portion of our country that owned mormons as slaves, treated mormons, had separate entrances for mormons, still call mormons the "M" word and have hate groups targeting mormons.

I think those who dislike Mitt because he's mormon is significantly smaller than those who dislike Obama because he's black.

And both of those groups (who dislike Mitt because he's mormon, and dislike Obama because he's black) set the rest of us back 100 years.

A little history lesson might help. How do you think the Mormons ended up in Utah? And how about the govt. outlawing their cultural and religious tradition of plural marriage?

How did they end up in Utah? Google "mormon trail" and read about how they were brutalized in the cities they lived and it turned into one of the worst forced marches in history.

No I got it... he's receiving such a vastly higher number of death threats since before he was elected because he likes Basketball and is over 6' tall.

sort of strange that someone could build up so much hate as to threaten to kill a person over that person liking hoops & being decent sized... but what else could it ever be?

I'm fully aware of how they were kicked out of different areas of hte nation (because their leader was a con man).

But I really doubt many people care about mormonism now. Many people do care about blacks (asians, mexicans, and people who don't look like Western Europeans).

well, it was obviously because he was a socialist...er..nazi...er...lawyer...er...raised taxes...er...invaded another country...er...was from Hawaii..er....helped save GM/Chrysler...er...OBL was killed under his watch...er...

Oh, I know. it's because he lied and single handily ruined the economy.

FWIW, Chris is correct with regard to racism vs Obama. I hear it, see it, deal with it first hand often. To think that the few right leaning (bending) friends I have are the only ones that try to veil their distaste for Obama as anything more than racially motivated would be stupid on my part. The racism in the Tea Party and in parts of the Republican party certainly and obviously exists. And it's disgusting. Not disgusting because he's actually black, but disgusting because it's so desperate and lacks any semblance of creativity or originality. I was once a registered Republican. I cannot associate with them, or the Dem's, ever again. They're all sick. And none of them are interested in unity and understanding which is the only hope we have. Fuck it. Keep fighting to "be right" - It's all that matters to American's these days.

i tried to address this earlier, but i think it got lost in what I said. There are obviously people who dislike Obama because of other reasons than his race. Most sane people who dislike him, dislike him for valid reasons (in the sense that it's actually thought out reasons. They may be reasons others disagree with, but they can articulate those reasons).

But it's undeniable that people dislike him because he's a black person. Just as if he was Mexican (in the case of Mitt, Mexican enough to "look Mexican"), or whatever.

Why is it people say "I want my country back" or have the witch doctor posters of Obama, or call him a "muslim"? I think most Muslims actually look nothing like him, and actually would look more like Mitt or Romney. I think most Muslims would be from Asia/North Africa.

I'm sure someone else can make that point better.

I don't doubt that there are people who make fun of Romney because he's Mormon, but most people make fun of him because he's such a wishy washy candidate and he's the John Kerry of personality.

This post is one of the most nonsensical ramblings I've read on this board.

Well thank you. That's quite the statement considering the company we keep on S2. I've always respected you but I also have to believe you're exaggerating just a tad.

I just couldn't follow the logic. So because you have racist friends, all people who disagree with the policies of President Obama are racist? As someone who has been to Tea Party functions, I can say I have NEVER seen someone oppose President Obama because of his race. The only people I've seen bring up race are those who agree with the President's policies. The people I've met who oppose President Obama oppose him because of his policies. The fact he's half-black is generally viewed as a positive, not a negative. So...neener. And what is the comment about if someone is registered as either a Democrat or Republican, you can't be around them? There are plenty of decent, well meaning people in either party. Discriminating against someone simply because they're a member of a political party seems bizarre. You'll be happy to know I'm a registered Independent, so you needn't run from me like I have cooties.

Let's completely forget the racism argument here and address the death threats from a different view point. Isn't it a very bad thing that he is receiving so many death threats, and yet he was elected by a majority? Doesn't that say there are some people who can't handle the opinions of others at the very least?

What? How can my post be taken at all to embrace death threats against the President? Crazies are crazies. I'm not denying there are racists out there, but to say the reason people oppose President Obama because he's half black is madness.

Okay, I felt you didn't concede this point the first time it was brought up. But there are MORE crazies than usual. Clearly a minority of republicans against Obama are because of his skintone.

How do you know it's Republicans that don't like Obama because he's half-black? How do we know they're not Independents or Democrats? The answer is you don't.

The mental gymnastics that you contort yourself though denying the obvious is admittedly impressive. Kudos.

Congratulations on finding a few idiots in a country of 310MM people. Again, how do you know they're Republicans? "Common sense" is a weak answer. Robert Byrd was a Kleagle, and we was no member of the GOP.

Sweet. Prove it. Prove that it's Republicans that hate President Obama because he's half black. That these people would support him wholeheartedly if he had exactly the same policies, but was 100% white.

so you are saying that democrats are racist, and thats why they voted him into the presidency? :biglaugh: noooo it was all the democrats who were so angry that he won that they started making and buying racist bumper stickers right?

COMMON SENSE

i get the whole devils advocate thing, just like the batum thread, but....

I'm saying that racists weren't going to vote for him, regardless of party. How do you know all the racists were Republicans? You fail to grasp this simple concept.

no

some are teabaggers too

Maybe they're all infatuated with Jody Foster.

Seriously. You can't know what motivates someone to threaten the president.
