Trade Idea Andre Iguodala

DECEPTIVE TITLE! I thought the Grizzlies had bought him out!

I think Memphis is probably demanding a first rounder for him, and our first rounders are suddenly a fuck of a lot more valuable...

But if he could be acquired like this, I would do it in a second, just to stabilize the locker room and have a player with ACTUAL guard skills bring the ball up the court:

Yes, he would be a great addition to the team. He's a way better version of Evan Turner. Just depends what it would cost and if he would be back next season.

Would rather sign a big man
We have big men once they're healthy....Nurk will return , Skal, Whiteside, Moses, eventually Zach …..we need perimeter defense...teams are lighting us up from deep....Iguodala won MVP of the championship finals with the Warriors for one reason....defense...that's really rare...we can always make another trade of Whiteside for a big without effecting a Baze for Iggy trade

he may be too old to play defense at this point. If we don’t get a big man for the next few months we could miss the playoffs.

Iggy is built like LeBron....the dude is in shape...there are players like him, Lebron, Karl Malone, that keep in amazing condition and defy the aging thing...Karl Malone could run for 40 minutes a game his entire career....Lebron can do that....Iggy is one of those guys..built for the long road. He'd be a great pickup for us at this stage

Yup. I would love to have Iggy on the Blazers. Great attitude and still a good player.

I think he could get us Iggy with some filler...Baze is younger...have to add sweetener to the trade on our end though
I honestly wouldnt do that... Im not sure Id trade Baze for iggy straight up. Maybe the Iggy of 2-4 years ago, he’s almost 36 but will be 36 this season. To me they need to be looking for 4’s/5’s. Anyone they can get that can give them reliable minutes and play defense + rebound if WS or Skal have an injury.

Of course part of that is I dont think Nurk or Zach will be back at full speed this season.

I'd trade Bazemore for Darius Miles. At least he wouldn't play.

"It was reported earlier this week that the Dallas Mavericks were preparing to make an offer for the 35-year-old, although David Cobb of the Memphis Commercial Appeal believes the Portland Trail Blazers could also get in the mix."

Just to remind anyone who forgot, last season Iguodala had an effective field goal percentage of 58 percent, and a 4 -1 assist to turnover ratio.

Kent Bazemore had an eFG% of 47% last season, and is currently at 40.7% effective field goal percentage as a Trail Blazer. If we got shooters, he sure ain't one of them.

I'm all in on this guy

He's the guy who get's into Lebron or Kawhi's grill and makes their life miserable...needle mover

I think teams will stay patient knowing eventually they will just buy him out or settle for a second. I’d be surprised if anyone surrendered a first. I know I wouldn’t even though he’d be an ideal fit.

It seems it would be hard for teams to pay much for Iggy as he is going on 36 and will be an unrestricted free agent next year. I can see him going back to GS for a year or two before retiring after this year.

Unless we are the team that gives up a 1st, which we should absolutely not do, then there is zero chance of Iggy being a Blazer. The reason for this is we don't have the right contracts to make it appealing enough for Memphis to trade with us versus other teams.

Our best offer without a 1st would be Bazemore/2020 2nd (as long as it's not 56-60)/2022 2nd for Iggy. The problem with this is that it would add an additional $2.1 million to Memphis' payroll.

Meanwhile a team like Dallas could offer Courtney Lee plus a couple 2nds which would save Memphis over $4.3 million instead of adding to their payroll.

On top of that, it's not even certain that Iggy would report if traded to the Blazers.

I would venture an educated guess that Olshey would make sure Iggy is ok with the deal before doing any deal, plus Dallas would have to add more salary to make it work. We can also take back another salary from Memphis or get another team involved to make it work.

1) Yeah, obviously Olshey wouldn't trade for Iggy if he's not going to report. I never said he would as I was just raising the possibility that it could be a factor.

2) Dallas is not in the luxury tax and wouldn't be after this trade so no other salary is needed to make it work. I wouldn't have put it in my post if it didn't work.

3) Yes, I'm aware of 3 team trades and other players being involved but it just isn't going to work in this situation unless we overpay by adding a 1st as long as other teams involved can offer better packages.

Whatever details are involved I feel are beyond speculation when it comes to Andre's agent and Memphis front office....I don't understand why Andre wouldn't show up to play with Dame, Melo, etc....he played on team USA with Melo already. One might say Pau Gasol wouldn't want to come here but he did. If Dallas did get him we might be able to get a guy like Curry back for bench scoring...I just think if we are making a serious push, Iguodala would be a big help getting there.
