Andrew was placed on waivers today. I just heard it on the radio. It has something to do with how long he's been here, and apparently there is a BLOCKBUSTER trade in the works. Holy crap.......I'll get some more info when I find some

Ok, I'm confused, but this doesn't sound good.

Probably to the Red Sox for Coco Crisp and Craig Hansen...deal was very close to happening at the deadline

I hope this happens. Andruw Jones is an amazing fielder and great hitter. He would be better than Johnny Damon and Coco were imo.

Andruw's not going anywhere. They're in the middle of a wild card race, they are ot gonna get rid of their best player right now.

So there is a chance something could happen..Being on waivers means he CAN still be traded, even after the official MLB trade deadline

Yes, I know he's been claimed, I'm just saying the braves will not lose him. While the Braves may have plenty of power bats in the minors, the fact still remains that they would be losing a player who is both a power bat, and en exceptional CF. Granted he seems to be having some arm trouble and minor health issues. However, aside from his on field performance, we would be also losing a cornerstone on the bench. With Chipper down half of last year, who stepped up to be the team leader? AJ. Who put up the numbers and carried the team for a month while everyone else's bats died? AJ. yes his salary is large, yes the braves could/should get plenty in return for him in a trade, but the fact still remains that the braves would be losing a losing alot of known talent.

he makes 13.5 mil.Mike Hampton makes 14.5 mil. trade himi dont think they care about the money. I wish the Cubs would trade Kerry Wood(for anything), assuming SOMEBODY wanted him...

They signed when he was an all-star pitcher. Who knew he'd be out this long with injuries???

wrong, my friend. All Time Warner cares about is making profits. HE coudl give a damn a bout braves getting class-A free agents. The past 2 years, the braves payroll salary has declined from 106 million to about 86. I think the spending attitude over the past few years has led the Braves to make some bad trades because all of the FAs are signing elsewhere in the off season. Then when they realize that there are places that need to be tweaked, the season is in full swing & the only way to fill the gap is by making 'rent-a-player' deals.Looking over the years, Maddux was the one major FA signing made. He came to Atlanta for LESS money than the Yankees were offering. At that time the Braves were making strides towards a possible dynasty & were offering multi-year deals to the entire pitching staff & some other key players. It was that security that led to the semi-dynasty but also, as we now see, the eventual downfall of that semi-dynasty.Bring in some players. Give them 2-3 year deals & pay them well for their time. When trading prospects for provens, make sure you are getting players with more than a one year deal in place.I still think it will take a team payroll of $100 - $125 million for this team to stay competitive but that money needs to be wisely invested. They don't want to make A-Rod type deals in Atlanta. Show the players that they want to win & I think they'll get some FAs interested in playing for them again

I just heard about this on ESPN News, it's exactly what kingjamez said, but jonesboyz is right, it looks like we'll be keeping him after all.

Wow if he goes to the Red Sox they'll have a powerhouse trio. That'll be scary. I rerally like Crisp though and would like it if he stayed in Boston.
