The consensus is that we need to move Ant in order to give minutes to Scoot and Sharpe. Some have other reasons as to why we should trade Ant. Myself, Ant is a keeper and Scoot is a bust….

Which teams would Ant be an ideal destination? For Ant as well as for the return the Blazers can realize?

My favorite landing spot for Simons would be San Antonio. He can spread the floor, run the point and his lack of defensive prowess will be covered by Wemby. Simons and Pops would get along in my opinion as well.

Can we pry the Spurs 4th pick for Ant? Do we consider parting with Simons for their 8th pick?

Will we regret sending Ant to a young Western Conference team of the future?

Orlando has been mentioned, but what do we get back?

I think Ant would thrive in NY, on either the Knicks or the Nets.

Ant for the Jazz #10 pick?

Thoughts on Ant?

Voted for the Spurs, feel like he could land their 4th pick and he would be a solid 2nd/3rd option on offense. They have a certain alien on their roster who would eat up most of his defensive deficiencies, feels like the best fit for his skills.

Only the Magic out of those teams.

If it was to SA it would be for #8 not #4. They would take a big guard (Castle) and match him with Ant.
But if Reed is there they would just take him and grab Topic at 8. (No need for Ant)

I can see the Nets wanting him , but for who?

The Knicks make no sense, they have Brunson (plus he and Thibs make no sense)
Maybe the Jazz but they might draft a younger version since they are starting over
Bulls..... maybe

As has been said elsewhere, Simons to Orlando just makes too much sense on both sides not to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if something that can't be consummated until the new league year has already been agreed to in principle, contingent upon certain player(s) being available at certain draft position(s).

The Bulls for their 11th pick and our own pick back to free us up for additional trades. I see the Bulls rebuilding if not retooling and Ant might be a good fit (for the Bulls future)

I think Ant is pretty redundant with Coby White who had a mini-breakout season this year. I would still prefer Ant in a vacuum, but I would bet Chicago would prefer their version. Regardless, I can't see it being a swap that the Bulls would pay for.

I just don’t see anyone I’d want from Orlando. They don’t have a SF or PF that they can trade - perhaps a 3-team scenario? And how valuable is Orlando’s 18th pick? Will Edey slip to 14? to 18? Maybe there is a team that would like Black? We don’t need more guards - precisely why we would move Simons in the first place!

Ant for WCJ + 18 + future 1st----> WCJ + 18 to OKC for 12 + future pick?

I’d think OKC could trade directly with Orlando - perhaps a different 3rd team? Or we take WCJ + 18 + future 1st + pick swap? Then we package 14 + 18 and move up to snag a player who may have slipped…Jazz at 10 or Memphis at 9 may be candidates for 14+18

[this might net us Edey + WCJ + future 1st + future pick swap with Orlando / for Ant and 14th] not horrible. if not Edey, perhaps we pick up someone who slipped, like Holland?]

Exactly why it won’t happen. Simons will get traded to Milwaukee for Patrick Beverly, a trade exception and a future 2nd round pick.

Well waive Beverly and start building for the future

LOL! You’re probably right! And Beverly will wind up in Boston and win finals MVP! :)

I think Houston is a possibility (whatever it takes to get #3). But most likely is staying with the Blazers, just because any offers are likely to be insulting.

At 7, 8 and 14, Portland gets 2 forwards back to back or can move up, too.
The Spurs don’t have a real point guard or even a combo guard to go with Wemby and Simons is a 2:1 assist to TO dude on a bad team with no Wemby.

Would the Spurs give up 4? Maybe.

Blazers didn't see any of Simons, Sharpe, Scoot play together at the same time. I think they want to see this first picture to considering any trade of the three. So I expect Simons is back.

Only way I see that changing is if Ant comments at the end of the season of wanting to win are strong desire on his part and he's expressed this to Cronin then yes the Blazers may explore more trades.

Out of the other teams I find the Spurs extremely unlikely. The wouldn't want to give up many future assets to win now, and they'd ideally want a better defender.

Orlando makes the most sense by far. Nets and Knicks make no sense.

Chicago and Utah could make sense if those teams pivot a certain direction. Maybe OKC or the Lakers too. But the Magic make much more sense than all other options.

Kevin O’Connor suggests we trade Simon’s & the 7 and 14 to Houston for the #3

We don't want any more guards who think they should be starters (and are paid like one). However, a young, athletic defensive point guard (like Black) would be a great acquisition, and a great complement to Scoot/Sharpe. And if they believe Banchero/(M) Wagner/Isaac are their preferred 4/5 rotation, then WCJ is expendable--and would be a solid 4/5 backup here.

As far as picks are concerned, they have 2 FRP's next year--we would likely ask for one of those rather than us having a 3rd FRP this year. If we did get 18, either Ware or Missi will likely be available at that spot.

I like the Spurs because he just fits a huge need that they have and would cost them a lot less than Garland would. He also is a beast in the PnR and with Wemby he'd be scary. I know that if they don't pick up the option on Graham and let the cap holds go on a bunch of guys I don't see them re-signing, that they'd have room to bring Ant in without losing anyone currently on their roster. They would also be able to fill their roster just by picking up the options on Bassey and Champagnie along with signing the 4th pick and both of their second rounders. A Castle, Simons, Keldon Johnson, Sochan, Wemby starting lineup seems to make a lot of sense with Vasell, Jones, Collins and Champagnie coming off a deep bench that would still have guys like Branham and Bassey.

I think pick 8 for Ant straight up might make a lot of sense for both teams, especially if Salaun and Williams are both still available.

Simons is a Blazer 4 Life

he's going to get a max extension. It will be a massive number that makes him even harder to trade. He gets to quit his seasons early, so he's totally cool with being a Blazer.

the podcasters have challenged Blazer fans to find a rookie/sophmore on this team who can step in and play better then 6 year pro Anfernee Simons. If you can't, then fans who want to trade Simons will always be wrong.

Oh... and the new discussion factoid is the Moda Center is at 90% capacity during every home game. If you happen to see entirely empty sections, those fans are waiting in line for bagel dogs during quarters 1 thru 4.

ANTHONY BLACK!!! He's last draft's Stephon Castle! Only taller and with awesome hair.

I like his game, especially in a three guard rotation with Scoot and Shaedon. Some have suggested that we could get him and either pick 18 or Denver's pick in the next draft. I would think if Joe is serious about moving 14 into the top ten that he'd possibly be able to with the draft asset he lands in this trade and maybe even another he gets in a trade for Malcolm or Jerami.
