My newest dumb idea:

Portland out: simons, 14
In: jett Howard, 11, Our pick back, '25 Denver pick, '25 pick of Philly or Miami

Magic in: simons
Out: Howard, WCJ, 18, '25 Denver pick k

Chicago in: 12, 18
Out: 11, PDX pick

OKC in: 14, WCJ
Okc out: 12, Philly or Miami '25 pick

Magic pay a decent price, but get their backcourt shooter to pair with a solid young frontcourt.

Chicago continues on their rebuild, only move down one spot, add an additional pick, while giving up a pick that may never convey.

OKC gets a great pairing alongside chet up front, for only sliding down 2 spots, and a future 1st of which they have hundreds. Couldn't remember exact protections, but maybe we say more favorable of okc. Miami or Philly pick.

Portland moved up 3 spots in this draft, gains a meh prospect, add 2 picks in next year's draft, and regain control of our picks going forward
Deal! I'd love this. I think it would more likely be everything besides the Denver pick and I'd still be cool with that. Moving up three spots, getting a good young prospect and a late pick in the first round next year is a solid return on Ant. I would also prefer Black to Howard but that's if we're trading Malcolm as well.

Orlando will just try to sign Klay first or some acquisition that doesn't cost them any picks.

Maybe they consider Simons as option B but that'll be after the draft thus not involve any of next week's picks.

Orlando's media and fan sites are loaded with juice about trading for Simons and bringing him home. A lot more than Blazers sites are. It would seem like a reward to send him home to his favorite team growing up and living around his family. I can see it for sure.

It would be such a stupid move to sign Klay. He’s at the end and I expect him to fall off a cliff in the next couple years.

Cronin said it in Vegas last year, he's dead set on building this team around Simons. A bleacher reporter mentioned Simons as the future of this team. Orlando can find their own Ant. Take a hike Magic. Portland almost beat them on a busted play Ayton middie. They're not ready to handle the power of Anferno.

Care to share these links?

Obviously you’re having a hard time seeing through the smoke.

you can google Orlando fans want to tradee for Simons and find the articles....yesterday it was on MSNBCs homepage gut if you go to Locked On Magic you'll find more content...I looked into Ant trades and Orlando keeps popping up.

yeah....we definitely disagree and GMs never undervalue their assets in the media so I take that with a grain of salt.

I think that if Orlando is smart they trade for Ant before this draft giving up their pick this year in a weaker draft than the next two. Let Klay try to rip off GS then bolt for Philly if they don't pay up.

What makes you think the Blazers want any more picks in this draft?

I don’t think they do, unless they were to package, say 14 and 18 to move up. Was pointing out that it would be wiser for Orlando to do if interested in Ant.

3 pitiful seasons actually.
it's a complicated rebuild

Year 1, teardown, tank
Year 2, failed retool, tank
Year 3, ouchie poo, tank
Year 4, ?? starts late October

you’re right! Geez let’s get on with it or get a new GM quick

The question I would ask you, sir, is what forward do you believe the Blazers could trade Ant (+?) for to fill that "new guy" hole that would be good enough to bring that roster to playoff contention?
None. That guy likely doesn't exist. Ant isn't good enough. Any long, good defender who can score has been identified by whatever team he's not.

Guy's like that become pretty obvious once they're in practice for a few weeks. They make a big difference.

We're not going to find a really good wing that somebody doesn't realize they have.

Never say never though. You are correct above, however sometimes a team might have too many players like that and may have a direct need for a guard and could make a trade to rebalance their roster.

Yes, but I wouldn't hold on to him waiting for that eventuality. I'd take a 2025 or later late lotto pick.

I’m going to guess that Simons is not traded on draft night but for two exceptions:

Traded to Spurs for 4th pick
Or
To Charlotte for 6th pick if Clinghan has slipped

Draft is behind us - we got Clinghan. Looks like the ship has sailed that takes Ant to Orlando. And with free agency underway the Magic have already made their move. Spurs, Sixers made big additions - so where might Ant fit?

Nets have a ton of draft capital again.

Atlanta can use a guard.

Warriors?

Bulls?

Signs an extension with Portland in a couple of weeks and plays for the Blazers this year? Sharpe off the bench?

Trade Grant and Simons to Brooklyn
for
Simmons, Finney-Smith and (3) unprotected 1sts: PHX 2025 PHX 2027 and Brooklyn’s 2028

We would need to move Finney-Smith, Thybulle, Murray and most likely Simmons, although I’d like to see what Simmons and Williams III can do. Maybe these two are trade deadline moves.

Ayton, Simons and unprotected 2030 #1 pick

to Atlanta for

Risacher, Capela and Bogdanovic

find a trade scenario for Grant (Warriors?)

Clingan / Capela
Dani / Walker
Risacher / Camara
Sharpe / Thybulle
Scoot / Banton

Flagg in 2025!

Brooklyn doesn't have those Phoenix picks, Houston does. Brooklyn doesn't want to trade is own picks now that they're rebuilding.

Still think Orlando might be interested in Simons, but maybe only for one of a pick out Black.

Nets actually do make sense. I could see a deal where Cam Thomas goes to a 3rd team.

I'm fully convinced at this point that Cronin is not interested in trading Ant--for the moment, at least.
There doesn't seem to be a market for him so of course Cronin isn't interested in trading Ant. He is a Blazer until a player gets injured off another club most likely.
