If the Clippers don't get Harden, they might be interested. Trouble is, they've got jack shit to offer.

Brogdon might be a bit pissed with Boston FO given that he was effectively traded and then the trade was changed.

I'd like to see a Lillard trade to Toronto (OG + filler) or to Brooklyn (includes Claxton) ASAP.
Then -- watch Simons have his best season to bring the lowball valuations -- here and elsewhere -- well above higher paid combo guards (as he'll do just fine at PG when Scoot is getting 30+ minutes). Yes. I look forward to that.

As to CJ? Ant is equal to him, now. And CJ's game at 31, IMHO, is not going to age well as a non-physical, sub-par defender who is neither a threat to get to the hoop nor having the range that Ant has now.

No, absolutely not. But if we luck out and get Brogdan and 2 frp's for Ant, take it and then evaluate the value Brogdan carries. Something eventually trade wise has to favor the Blazers. Law of averages.
Do people forget that the Celtics already agreed to trade Brogdon this offseason but couldn't because of his health and his inability to pass a physical?

It might cost something just to get off of him. He has no value.

Simons is a long range scorer on less then max contract. 20+ppg doesn't grow on trees in Portland. Ant's not going anywhere anytime soon. There will be riots if Blazer fans don't get free chicken nuggets.

If we got 2 1sts for Ant, I think that is the something that favors the Blazers, trade wise. I’d be happy with Brogdon still on the squad. Brogdon can be a mentor that can still actually play. He’s a great third guard to have behind Shae and Scoot. His deal would expire after Shae’s third year.

Next year, with Dame gone for more pieces, we’re going to have more cap space. I’ve been a big proponent of overpaying for a guy like OG next summer for 3 years, expiring the same year Scoot’s rookie extension kicks in. If Grant was on the team still:

Scoot/Brogdon/Mays
Shae/Thybulle/Rupert
OG/Shae/Kris/Little
Grant/Walker/Kris
____/____/____

Suddenly this team looks pretty decent, and this would only be after next summer. Whatever 1sts we get back should be spent looking for the best 6-8+ guys for the next several years. I’m fine overpaying for guys like OG and Grant, but not Turner and Crabbe.

I'm not against Brogdon, but I would rather have a center seeing how Nurk is injury prone and doesn't attack the basket hard. Brogdon is duplication at a position the Blazers are hopefully good at. Yes, I know a bench is critical, but rounding out the starting five is where I would start. Nurk is a back up in my estimation, and an expensive one at that. I'd love to get Claxton (most likely as a free agent), Ayton or even Allen from Cleveland.

Terance Mann and Norm Powell? Trade Powell elsewhere for a pick?
We couldn’t even get a 1st trading him away the first time. Why are we suddenly going to get one this time around?

Mann and Powell is a terrible package for Ant. Oh no, no, no. Absolutely, no.

If the intention is to get Ayton for Ant, that is the definition of a lateral move. I don’t think Claxton would be available even for Dame, but I love the idea of clearing all the cap space in the world to throw a huge contract at him. Allen might be available if they give up on the two-big lineup. I think Allen-for-Grant is the deal if it ever happens.

it's not the direction Portland should go, but Powell is a better player than Ant

and I think I'd rather have Mann at 11M/year than Ant at 26M/year

This is ideal for both teams IMO
That’s what I’m thinking too. Grant would be a good fit with him. And on the other end, two years of Allen at $20m/yr is an amazing deal. I’m really liking Izan Almansa in next year’s draft, I think he has both high offensive and defensive potential.

Allen, Almansa, and a third big could be a really good C rotation.

Trade Simons for Lauri Markkanen to get the PF we need. Although Simons is paid more, it would be worth adding cash or SRP if required to replace Simons with a solid swish3 scorer, defensive PF, and rebounder that can make the Blazers a contender. This could be a deal the Jazz would make.

Addition of Lauri Markkanen to the Blazers might be sufficient reason for Dame to decide to change his decision and stay with the Blazers, given that this roster would be in a position to contend, at least within the next 2 seasons. This would be an excellent use of Simons as an asset.

Ant for Markannen, moving Grant to SF would make us better than Miami

Why? Why do you believe that this could be a deal the Jazz would make? Given that they're already paying $40M/yr to Sexton and Clarkson, why would they give up their best player for a redundant, overpaid, 3rd guard?

Not in a million years.

No way in hell can you get a great defending big for a short gunner. Just not going to happen.

If Brogdon is on the table for Ant, and healthy, you think Cleveland would take him, Blazers get Allen and Boston Ant?

I don’t think Danny Angie would let something like this happen.

Boston has Smart & White as the starting back court

and they want to shed salary, not add. They are 11M over the tax line, 5M over the 1st apron, and less than 6M below the 2nd apron. Adding Ant would put them about 3M below the 2nd apron....and it could put them over the 2nd apron next season when Brown's extension starts

besides that, for years now, Boston has placed a high value on defense. Ant and defense are ANTonyms.

Markannen is a young All Star big. Why would Utah trade him for a non-All Star guard?
Mitchell and Gobert were all stars, they traded them. That is to say things that may seem inconceivable could happen.

But I know where you're coming from, and I agree. My post was simply IF that swap were to happen, we'd be better than Miami. I only said that coz I saw a recent post suggesting the same.

hasn't Miami placed a high value on defense too? Not sure how Damian fits in there...

LOL...yeah sure because Dame and Ant are the same level of players with the same level of value
