Have you seen the HOU roster? Have you watched them play. They went out and deliberately surrounded Harden with shooters (the "others" as Charles Barkley calls them) so Harden could play the Steve Nash role in D'Antoni's offense. As a team, HOU (14.5) makes 40% more 3FG/G than POR (10.3).
But, since Dame/C.J. make the majority of our 3FG, the quality of their "others" is much lower than the quality of Harden's "others".
Here are Harden's top 4 "others":
Trevor Ariza: 2.5 3FG/G, 7.1 3FGA/G, .355 3FG%
Patrick Beverly: 1.7 3FG/G, 4.3 3FGA/G, .390 3FG%
Ryan Anderson: 2.7 3FG/G, 6.8 3FGA/G, .404 3FG%
Eric Gordon: 3.5 3FG/G, 9.2 3FGA/G, .387 3FG%
Total: 10.4 3FG/G, 27.4 3FGA/G, .380 3FG%
Dame and C.J.'s top 4 "others"
Maurice Harkless: 1.1 3FG/G, 3.1 3FGA/G, .342 3FG%
Al-Farouq Aminu: 1.1 3FG/G, 3.7 3FGA/G, .307 3FG%
Meyers Leonard: 1.0 3FG/G, 3.1 3FGA/G, .336 3FG%
Allen Crabbe: 1.5 3FG/G, 3.6 3FGA/G, .431 3FG%
Total: 4.7 3FG/G, 13.5 3FGA/G, .348 3FG%
Harden is definitely surrounded by better shooters.

^^^ So Dame and CJ have each other to pass to (assist opportunities) and the best shooter of anyone else listed above in Crabbe.
I think the title should be finally another guy we can pass it to that will actually put in in the basket
Wow. Meyers is so bad at the one thing hes supposed to be good at, that Maurice Harkless is shooting a better 3 point percentage.
He is so bad.
more like Vonleh gets his jump shot going playing next to Nurkic...Vonleh becomes a great 3 pt shooterBREAKING: Nurkic becomes a 3 point shooter under Stotts.
His body language seems like pure panic attack....he's got serious stage frightI have no idea what happened to his confidence, but there have been times in the past when he was lights out if left open at the 3-point line. Now, whenever he shoots a 3, I automatically assume it's a miss and am surprised when one occasionally goes in.

I think this is going to work really well with Vonleh and Nurkic side by side...Nurkic will allow Vonleh to step out of the paint and shoot...Vonleh has a good looking shot...just hasn't shot much in our games..My point is that please, for the love of god, can we have one big man that isnt turned from an inside presence that we can toss it down low to... Can we have that once under stotts? Just once. Nurkic could be that. I just dont want stotts to fuck that up like he seems to do often.

I have no idea how long it will take Stotts to start running plays for him on the low block, but for now, it will be nice to have a guy who hits the offensive glass and can actually put the ball in the basket when he gets an offensive rebound. Ed and Noah are our best offensive rebounders, but Noah usually gets stuffed when he tries for the put back, and more often than not, when Ed gets an offensive rebound, he passes out to a guard to reset the possession. When Nurkic gets an offense rebound he goes right back up and he goes up strong. That's the way it should be - either finish strong or draw a foul on an opposing big man.

I definitely think it's a confidence issue. He's thinking too much while he's shooting. Exhibit A: All the open looks he passes up.I have no idea what happened to his confidence, but there have been times in the past when he was lights out if left open at the 3-point line. Yep, the hesitation has fucked up his head and his form. His first instinct is to pass. He only shoots as a last resort, if no one challenges his shot. A shooter's first instinct should be to shoot the ball and only look to pass if you're covered. His instincts are the exact opposite of a great shooter.

This isn't the only place Stotts has coached. He was in charge of the offense in DAL and didn't try to convert Tyson Chanlder into a 3-point shooter. He works with what he's given.

To counter that point id like to remind people that in the last year or two of lamarcus' stay here he was making him a 3 point shooter. Hell, he was making everyone that way... Would of made rolo one too if he could shoot.
I watched closer last night after the Barkley comments, and he's not wrong. The offense that Stotts brought to Portland has a lot of ball and player movement. This is the same offense, with player movement, but the ball isn't moving nearly as much. Maybe that's by design because Stotts told them to? Lack of talent can scare coaches into relying on stars too much. Or maybe the two decided they needed to carry a roster that has Meyers and Patty C in the rotation?
Either way, the ball is not moving like it did in years past.
Not surprisingly, Lillard and Cj's assist totals are down this year
What is interesting for me from those figures is that our two best three point shooters get slightly less attempts combined than our two worse shooters. I guess that is partly due to the fact that teams don't worry about leaving Leonard and Aminu wide open. But I would like to see the team work harder at giving Harkless and Crabbe more shots.Have you seen the HOU roster? Have you watched them play.
