I said "bullshit" charities, not "fake" charities. There are tons of charities that are shady at best. Tons of charities that spend more money on administration than they do on the causes they claim to represent. And there are charities that raise money for bullshit causes. All I'm saying (and what I believe MM was saying) is that the credibility of his chosen charity factors into whether he deserves credit.

Totally agree with you about bullshit charities. I even gave you some examples of some. To be fair the Wounded Warrior Project is promising to clean things up.

The world is full of bullshit charities that are legal. But be honest, that's not really your concern here is it? That whichever charities he donates to spend more on their mission statement than they do on administration? I think your real concern is "bullshit causes". He comes out and says he's going to donate $1 million to black charities and suddenly you're concerned on how these black charities use this money?

Wook has been donating to the "beer" charity for decades!

Anyone mad at cops because of tickets could always try slowing down. How is it i havent been pulled over since i started setting cruise control to the speed limit? Same with war on drugs, sure, i think they should do away with it but a good way not to get arrested for drugs is not doing them or having them on your person.

Exactly. I have two tickets to my name and both occurred when I was going to school in Corvallis. The first was a cop pulling me over for a "loose seat belt". I had the seat belt on, but it was on too loosely, apparently. The ticket was 30 dollars more than a ticket for wearing no seat belt at all. So, because mine was loose, but on it was a more expensive ticket. I should have just not worn it.

My second ticket was on the way home. My head gasket blew out in my vehicle and I was just pulling up to my house. I got home. The cop gave me a 200 dollar ticket for visible emissions. Fuck that shit.
My grandmother had a Taurus that she said the transmission was acting up. I picked it up after work one Friday to keep overnight and look at it the next day. I drove it home and was about 20 feet from a red light when the light turned green. I hit the gas but the car stumbled and didn't take off very well. The light turned yellow while I was in the intersection. It was later at night so there wasn't any traffic.

I get pulled over by a pig and get the old "what's the hurry?"

I said I wasn't in a hurry and tried to explain what happened. He cut me off as he clearly didn't want an answer.

I said pig because he was an asshole. I don't think all cops are bad but I'd have worn those socks proudly the next day.

He's kept the Coors Brewing Company in business. I don't know how they are able to sell the piss water known as Coors light, but they do.
I'm with you. I had one a week ago. First time in forever and it tasted like water, lightly flavored with beer. Now I get how Wook can put so much of it away...........

True question: is there a statement somewhere that I've missed where Kaepernick says that this specific incident is the reason he's protesting, or is this just an example of incidents that he's T'd off about?

I've seen the video and I'm not about to make apologies for the officer. No matter what the provocation was, it should have been handled without the violence. That said, read this CBS report on the story as to why charges weren't brought.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/no-crim...o-dragged-south-carolina-high-school-student/

It's interesting that the prosecutor says that the fact that the police chief fired the officer before the investigation was complete, and that the Justice Department cut a deal to drop its investigation in exchange for additional training being provided served to work against the officer being indicted. I think he's saying that the fact that the police department chose to handle discipline by firing Fields rather than arresting him, and the fact that the Justice Dept. resolution implies that the officer may not have been adequately trained works against being able to prosecute him. When combined with witness statements that it wasn't as bad as it looked in the video and that Fields didn't intentionally throw her, but lost his grip, there likely wasn't a reasonable chance that the officer would have been convicted.

I get why Kaepernick is pissed about so many incidents having happened in past few years where blacks are shot or injured at the hands of police and no charges are ever brought. But the underlying principles of justice cut both ways for civilians and cops. Just because it looks like an incident like this is blatant racism doesn't mean that it was. And just because there's video doesn't mean that there's sufficient evidence to successfully prosecute a case. Does that mean that there's something inherently wrong with our system of justice or does it mean that we're right and want to make damned sure that we only convict when there's proof of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt? I respect Kaep's right to protest and throw a spotlight on perceived injustice, but I think that he's missing the mark if he's relying on this specific case to illustrate that injustice.

Bottom line he assaulted a 15 year old kid. We have video evidence to show that the force being applied was excessive at best. A firing is the least that should have happened.

And why would you think he's relying on this case only? Kap had guns unnecessarily drawn on him before he ever took an NFL snap.

What makes no sense to me is the constant explaining of why this is ok... It's not. There's no reason to do this to a kid. CALL HER PARENTS.

Damn, sometimes I think that it's impossible to communicate what you're actually trying to say on these forums. If we were sitting down having a beer sometime it sure would be a lot easier.

I asked you a question because you said "Ben Fields not being charged is why Kaepernick protests." I was trying to find out if there was something he had said about that incident in particular. Obviously, from your response, that wasn't what you meant at all.

As to your second point, I didn't try to explain the incident away at all. In fact I said, "No matter what the provocation was, it should have been handled without the violence." What I was trying to point to is that these things are always complicated when it comes to charging and prosecuting someone. There are reasons stated in the CBS report that illustrate that.

Well, often times around here certain people read what they want to hear instead of what is written. So yes, you are right, an in person beer drinking time is ALWAYS better :)

Was in "Just Sports" at Clackamas Town Center this weekend; sales person was chatting with me and pointed out the Kaepernick jersey on their wall--the only thing in the store marked down 50%. He said that was per a company-wide decree from corporate.

At the same time, Darren Rovell reported that the Niners sold more Kaepernick jerseys in the past week than in the prior 8 months combined.
Today I learned that some media personalities believe that a lot of the uptick in officially-licensed NFL-team-site Kaepernick jersey sales is attributable to people wanting to dress like him for Halloween.

this is all a big conspiracy to boost the bottom line of the globalist ink supply cartel, who make extra money off all the extra letters in "kaepernick". since his jersey sales spiked there has been a surge in squid deaths, coincidence?!

WAKE UP SHEEPLE

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game

If you work hard, contribute to society in a positive way, treat people with respect, educate yourself, etc etc etc, it doesnt matter what the color of your skin is, you can be successful in this country!
Are these hard working black people "oppressed"? No, they busted their asses to get where they are instead of waiting in line for the next handout and dont use the color of their skin as an excuse.

That's not my quote. That heading was the name of the article. That shows you obviously didn't click the link.

Ah. No, I didn't click the link because I had already seen the clip several times. Sorry for the confusion.

Stupid A Smith tells a story about him being pulled over for slightly speeding. Soon there were multiple police cars and he was being treated like a criminal until domeone recognized him.

Now I have been pulled over, and nothing like that ever happens.

There is a disconnect, and there needs to be change

i got pulled over at 6am for a "california stop" at a stop sign on my way home from the gym. the cop didnt get out of her cruiser until backup arrived and then she stood behind my vehicle with hand on gun while he approached super slow hand on gun and asked for my credentials. i had my gf in the car and im just like i think we are about to get shot. i ended up getting a warning. then later that day i heard police were looking for a guy that matched my description. white, fat, beard for a vehicular homicide. i figure we all look alike and it was a fair mistake.

My Puerto Rican buddy walks to work at UPS every morning at 3am and gets harassed at least once a week. Usually for "matching a description".

The amazing part of this all is that the so called anti-PC crusaders on the right are acting like the PC SJW in universities. It's ironic and hilarious.

This was my point earlier, the crybabies need a safe space where they won't get offended.

Protesting about said atrocities; not a big deal do your thing. But shitting on people that sacrificed their lives so that him and others can make millions playing football? No, that's just an asshole.

Myself, not offended one bit, he can do what he wants, when he wants, it's America. But I think it's a dick move, specially considering he's a celebrity getting massive attention.

I like what Shaq said on the topic -- http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/...-protest-fox-and-friends-never-do-that-090716

"I don't know Colin, but again, to each his own. I don't really have a say on it, but I would never do that. My father was a military man, and you know, he protected this country. Uncles are in law enforcement, you know, they go out and work hard every day.

"Just, (there are) other ways to get your point across."

"My question is, how come you didn't do it last year? Or how come you didn't do it when you first entered the NFL?"

"My question is, how come you didn't do it last year? Or how come you didn't do it when you first entered the NFL?"

Why does that matter? So if a person didn't protest in the past they can't protest in the future?

You could fly the American flag in front of your house upside down because Hillary gets elected. But your neighbors could say you didn't do that when Bush and Obama were president, you can't do it now.

You know what would be awesome? If Kapernick continued to sit during the anthem and no one gave a shit. I mean seriously, why do you guys care so much what he does?
