All that whining about there being no way to improve this summer looks silly.
There is always a way but sometimes it's tough to see because of there being so many variables. Olshey said he would have to pull off some cap gymnastics. That is what he did.

I realize that. I was just listing a big that would be worth trading a 1st for and only made enough salary to work for Gary Trent.

Edit: If he was such a building block why did they sign Taj Gibson, Bobby Portis, and Julius Randle?
I personally always like having a roster spot around trade deadline time.

Guys come up on waivers also that we also look at and think "Gee wish we had a open spot".

Completely agreed.
Normally I would agree too. However, with Nurk out for who knows how long I think we have to fill the roster out. Even if it's a non-guaranteed guy who can be cut before January 10th.

Whiteside in Southbeach could be different than Whiteside at Pioneer Square! Plus he won't have Dion Waiters taking him to strip clubs.

Yep. Leave yourself flexibility and control within the roster. Having a guy with a non-guaranteed contract fits that bill. Cut that player if you wish and open a roster spot when needed.

I like the signing, but....

I may be crazy, but Tolliver really looks like a zombie to me :)

Just read three different Heat sites and most all the comments are about how good he can be but just didn't mesh with Spo. The problems seem to be mostly mental and some of that is attitude. Yeah i know people here think Lillard stops all attitude problems but that is fantasy.
I personally think the fact that he is working for a new contract will have the biggest effect on his play.
In the end he is a expiring so if he doesn't work out he will be gone.

yep. We saw how Nurk was discipled by Dame with relationship building. I think if a player like Whiteside wants to turn over a new leaf it helps to have a team mate leader friend to reach out and lead.

Did he do much for us last time?

I was hoping for a beast on the boards and somebody who could effectively guard guys like LeBron and Milsap.

Honest question, is our perimeter D better or worse now without Chief/Hark/ET?
