Anybody else starting to think Gorton is clueless and has no idea how to be a GM?

Buyout Girardi and trade Hayes and there you go. Thats 6m right there. Then if you can't trade Staal he goes into the expansion pool next summer.

Mike Peluso is a champion and he was a reject. Hagelin was a 35 point player here who wanted 4 million dollars a year. Whoopdee fucking doo. Gropp has tremendous speed and he's 6'2. He's a first or second line player type. Hagelin was a role player. Kessel was carrying his ass most of the playoffs. Kessel is a fat slob but he's always been a great playoff guy.

If the Rangers trade Stepan for Dumba and the 15th, they can sign Yandle anytime they like.

Sometimes it takes a trade and then a move to another team to wake a player up. The Rangers couldn't afford Hags, they got what they could for him. The alternative to Etem was letting Hags walk for nothing. If Staal & Girardi won't move send them to the minors and take the cap penalty. Skjei, McIlrath & Graves make peanuts, would free up cap money in the end.

I think you will see the Rangers try to go back to speed. They were slow as hell last year. Pitt skated circles around them which I haven't seen in years.

I'd like to see them target Darren Helm. I think Hayes is staying, and Hayes played his best hockey with a smallish, speedy winger on his left who can chase pucks and loved to shoot. Obviously that's Carl Hagelin, but that's also Helm. He's coming of a 2 yr/2.5m per deal. If we can get him for 3/2.75 and stick him on the 3rd line with Hayes and maybe Buchnevich I'd think about that for sure as the lack of speed hurt this team tremendously.

I posted a few weeks ago an article with a GM saying there's a market for Marc Staal. Gordon has to get that GM on the phone immediately and accept whatever it is they are willing to give. We need to get Yandle under contract.

Girardi will be here I think. I see the front office counting on the fact that he has significant surgery with no time to train over the summer, and hopefully an early exit and some rest and workouts get him back to a serviceable 3rd pair guy. Then you expose him in the expansion draft and hope the new team wants him for 2 years for their locker room. Could happen. Either way, if he has a decent year this year his NMC will lessen a bit and maybe we can find a taker after this year.

I also like Helm. I think he's a tough guy to play against and he flies out there. If there is a market for Staal and they can get him to leave, that would be great. He wasn't all that bad last year. It's just that the team is stocked on the left side with McDonagh, Skjei, Graves and Yandle. So, moving him and McDonagh would still leave the organization in good shape on the left side. Though, I don't think the Rangers will pursue any role players like Helm. I believe they are counting on players like Hrvik, Fogarty, Jensen and Nieves to fill a couple of the role player roles for dirt cheap if they don't trade for some. I don't blame them. Plus, I'd rather have Martin than Helm. He brings more of what the team is lacking.

Either way, the team is suddenly a mess. There have to be 3-4 major names headed out the door. That much I'm sure of.
