Interesting to listen to him on Inside the NBA.

He might be worth taking a chance on.

It was an interesting segment, thats for sure.

I don't know. He may be a "D-Bag" to some degree, but all I can say is that I've seen a guy that works his ass off in spite of some ball hog teammates. No, he's not Hakeem Olajuwon, but I can understand his desire for touches and having the ability to offensively effect the game. That's just basketball; when it comes to offense, everybody wants some.

Imagine Dame having the option of dumping it down low to Howard and getting easy wide open threes from kick outs.

I genuinely think Howard would thrive with Dame and CJ.

Id take Dwight for a one year max contract if we can't land anyone else. Might as well spend the cap space

But I'd rather have him on a 2yr $30M contract with a team option for the 3rd year. Leaving us space to sign someone else this year or next.

Probably no player in the league wants to be liked more than DHoward and he hasn't been since he got Stan fired in Orlando really...he wants to be the good guy worse than anything...craves the attention

Portland is a good place to become loved again. After he starts playing good our fans will eat him up, I can see it now.

Eh I didn't like what he said. Sounded like he believes he should be getting consistent on-the-block touches... Just not the man's skill set.
Which is sad because a Howard playing to his strengths can help almost any team in the NBA.

Dwight handled himself very well in the interview. He seems like a nice guy off the court, but on the court he is a whiner who takes himself out of many games arguing with refs or getting in bickering contest with the opposing players.

Sounds like another guy who used to wear #12 around Portland

I just think he'd love playing with Dame and CJ. He'd get enough touches and would enjoy the unselfish vibe of the team.

Not many studio hosts outside of Chuck coulda pulled that off. Wish Ernie was there instead of the other clueless dude who kept interrupting

Chuck telling him to go ring shopping before it's too late

Eh, not just ring shopping. He told him to make sure he locks in his last big contract to take care of his family.

If he goes to Dallas..... not a good move. That team is done.

No, he told him to go win a ring. He's getting paid regardless where he goes as long as he opts out

Sounds a bit scripted to me, like he's spent the entire season working with his agent what to say on TNT, and allowed his basketball to fall off because of it.

Damn I hope it is true though. He's a beast and if he can get back to where he was mentally, and stay healthy physically then he would make us a contender. Portland could be the perfect place for him if he truly wants to focus on basketball. I love that about our culture here because I think that's how it should be. You're a professional athlete and during the season your focus should be on basketball. You have the entire off season to spend your millions on a vacation of your choosing, and if you're dicking around off the court during the season then you will have a much longer vacation.

It will automatically be suspect to me if Dwight signs somewhere like LAC, Miami, Dallas. But if he goes somewhere like POR, IND, WAS, or ORL, then I will be more inclined to think that his head is in the right place.

He wouldn't really do much for our problems spacing the floor in the front court. I think he's probably a much better pick and roll player than Plumlee. Him and Dame could do some serious damage.

I wanted Howard big time when he left the magic. I thought we would have won a championship with that roster if he came here.

Dame
Wes
Batum
Aldridge
Howard

Center always was the glaring hole for those few years until we got Lopez. Had we gotten Howard instead I think we would have seen success much earlier.

I think it would definitely be worth while for both parties to at least meet in the off-season and see if this is the type of culture he wants to be a part of. If we sign him I will trust that Dame and Olshey have properly vetted him, and then maybe drive to Vegas and make a little bet while the odds are still good.

Early in the interview Chuck told him he's in the back nine of his career and essentially said he should go ring shopping because he's had a great career and a ring should be his top priority. Later on Chuck said Dwight has to opt out for a big contract in case he gets injured. Not mutually exclusive. Portland can give him both.

Plus when Dwight was talking about his first priority before worrying about a contract is to get into the gym and start working out for next season, his attitude made me think of Dame.
