I was a camp counselor one year in my teens. I was let on to a great story about "prop man". Apparently, decades earlier someone found an old wooden airplane prop and that started a ghost story to scare the kids. As the first day or two went along the camp counselors would talk about "prop man" to each other when the kids were around. That aroused their interest and when asked about it, we would get serious and tell them we couldn't talk abut it- making them more curious. So, at the second night's campfire, we'd tell the tale of Prop Man. Some guy who crashed his plane in the woods decades earlier, had the prop driven thru his body, died yet was still running around the place. Towards the end of the story one of the counselors would hold the prop to their side and be running down a trail close to the fire. One of the counselors would shriek, "Look, there goes prop man!". The kids would catch a glimpse and scream their heads off. It was clever at the time.
