Anyone know why Muslims hate being photographed?

Denny, it's not the number of those who fight, it's the number that support their aims that is scary.

Religion of peace my ass. They lost the battle of modernity and are lashing out in a nihilistic fashion.

Sort of like the tea party, actually...

barfo

And I suppose you think you know what that number is?

Did you read the old testament? How many battles where the victors pillaged and raped and even committed genocide (killed everyone)?

Do Christians kill adulterers as the bible says they should?

Mostly they kill women and children.

What is the number that support their aims?

It's not as many as people are making it out to be. Quite the opposite, the number that want good schools and good jobs and so on are in the Billions.

Jobs making suicide bombs and schools to learn how to use them.

It's enough to support healthy revolts in many Muslim countries. It was enough to elect Morsi in the most populous Arab country on the planet.

And I don't see how the number can be in the billions when there are just over a billion Muslims.

There's a struggle in Islam that isn't occurring on the same scale in any other religion. Could you imagine a Christian version of Al-Qaeda or any other extremist group that wouldn't be roundly denounced by both religious leaders and their flocks? Yet we hear only the occasional voice, who then has a fatwa placed on them.

1.7B Muslims. Morsi and his political party aren't terrorists or supporters of terrorism.

Try again.

"Billions" implies the first number is at least two. 1.7 isn't "billions"; it's "over a billion". However, it's a silly barfo-like argument that's a waste of both of our times, so I'll concede "billions" to you.

As for Morsi, ask whatever Coptic Christians are left in Egypt whether or not the Brotherhood are terrorists or supporters of it.

Are you saying the Arab spring was in support of al Qaeda? Or are you referring to the sporadic protests against westernization and/or Israel?

Quibble. 1+ is Billions.

There was no violence toward the Coptics until Morsi was overthrown, and the military killed thousands of people protesting the coup.

The not Glenn Beck version:

"They want to draw us into [violent] evil acts," Ghatas told Al Jazeera, adding that most local residents support the Christian community. "Out of 50,000, you will find maybe1,000 that are like this - the rest are peaceful," he said of his Muslim neighbours.

...

For its part, the Muslim Brotherhood blames the government.

"We blame security authorities for all these atrocities," said Alaa Mostafa, spokesperson for the Brotherhood, adding that there are several noted members of the Coptic Christian community who have shown their support for the "anti-coup" movement - those opposed to the overthrow of Morsi.

"So all of these allegations [blaming the Brotherhood] are lies that are inciting division and deceiving Egyptians" said Mostafa said, referencing an official statement by the Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Taking Islamic Sharia as our base and applying its principles, we strongly condemn any attack - even verbal - on churches and on Coptic property," reads part of the statement. "This holds true whether or not Coptic leaders joined in or supported the July 3 [the day Morsi was forced to step down] coup for whatever reason."

One man's terrorist is another man's blah blah blah. I'm not about to defend morsi or the brotherhood's bullshit, but by this metric we can call the American government terrorists if we ask the good people of Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan. And we all know we wouldn't want to do that

Pray tell, where did I mention the "Arab Spring"?

LOL. Yeah, it's never the Brotherhood's fault. They're naïve innocents.

Terrorism seeks to maximize fear damage with whatever weapons they can use. We take great pains not to affect innocents. You're not in graduate school anymore; it's okay to drop the moral equivalence bullshit.

Even worse than the means are the ends. We want people to live in peace, freedom and prosperity. Muslim extremists want to live in the 12th century, no other religions allowed and with women barely having any rights at all.

I'm not defending them, particularly. You assigned blame, I looked for the cause. Glenn Beck got it wrong, so do you.

My only defense of Morsi is he was elected and overthrown by military coup. The military has killed thousands of people protesting the coup.

Do you really think the persecution of religious minorities happened in spite of Morsi's best efforts? :biglaugh: Aw, that's sweet.

I think you are over generalizing what's going on to make Morsi look bad.

They're not persecuting minorities. They're getting revenge for the coup and the killings of the protesters.

Pray tell, where did I mention the "Arab Spring"?

You didn't, you said revolts. So I asked whether you're talking about the Arab spring or protests against westernization and/or Israel. So which of those supports al-Qaeda?

Right, I forgot Americans are naturally morally superior to the rest of the world

Well, someone was paying attention in high school history

Muslim extremists want to live in the 12th century, no other religions allowed and with women barely having any rights at all.

Yep, and you think most Muslims support them?

Every time an abortion clinic or doctor was threatened or harassed. That was christian terrorism in the USA.

Terrorism seeks to affect political change through violence.

EDIT: but you know, every christian who is against abortion must be violent. That seems to be the logic in use here.

John Lennon said, "We're more popular than Jesus now." The Christian Right then vilified the Beatles. Southern DJs asked for their records, to burn them. One of their members murdered him while John generously gave him an autograph.

This line of reasoning is very shaky.

Christians are torturing and killing children charged with "witchcraft" in Nigeria. Do all Christians support killing and torturing children?

This thread has become utterly ridiculous. There is no way you can have a rational discussion with people that have not read, nor will they read the written word central to the discussion.

No where in the New Testament can you find a teaching of Jesus that you could use to justify
violence against an abortion supporters. On the other hand, you can find through out the Koran the teachings of Muhammad that suggest violent action against the non believers for many reasons. This information is available to all that would inform themselves of these teachings.

It seems to be a sign of our times that there are people ( several in this thread) that prefer to remain ignorant, or even worse, find it entertaining to talk out their arse about subjects of which they will not take the time to read the actual scriptures.

I find it sad to write this because the problem is much larger than this thread.
