next few seasons? We all know that having a bench including a good sixth man is important but in the NBA it comes down to star players. You main core of players. Lillard, Batum and Aldridge.and what more do they need to do to get there?:pimp:

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

No. We need one more impact player/all star level guy.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

No. They still need a #1, although that could be Lillard.

Even with that, the bench and interior defense are both atrocious.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

No. If we only had the Big 3, two of them would be double teamed every play and on defense there would be two players open all the time. We should have at least 2 players in addition to the Big 3 so that we can field a full starting lineup.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

When I think of a big three who will lead a team to a championship, I think of all star caliber players with 1 or 2 of them being superstars.

I don't think the Blazers will ever have that as Ptd is not a town that attacts superstars. I think Blazers will have to go with a very good top 8 players that have chemistry to be a championship contender team.

and this.

If Batum could be dealt for a "star" caliber wing, and we can somehow get a legit post defender, then I think we'd have a real chance.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

Oh sorry I guess Batum isn't considered a "star" yet.

I'm talking top 10 player in the game type of guy. Only way to win championships.

Aldridge is an all star/all star caliber player. I would venture to guess Lillard will be "AS caliber" next season. And Batum is also "AS caliber". I think you need players top 5ish at their position in at least 2, but ideally 3 spots, and then role players and a bench. Aldridge isa top 5 PF easily. I think Batum is in the discussion for that 5th best SF, who knows where it'd be at had he not hurt his wrist. And I think Lillard can get to that spot at PG. We have a solid role player at SG, good defender, good 3 point shooter. A solid defender at C, and a really good 6th man, and we're getting close. Closer than most thought before this season started, IMO.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

Yes, but it'll take a stud 6th man (Wesley at his very best at the very least) and at least three solid, average-or-slightly-above average players, each with at least one "specialty."

Lillard is becoming a superstar. Aren't you paying attention? And if Aldridge played in a bigger market, he'd be considered almost a superstar. He is, after all, the highest scoring big man in the league.

Lets hope Paul is still willing to spend some serious $$$ then.

Lillard is garbage. I'm done with him.

Fuck yeah!!!! Batum needs to stop being a pussy and Aldridge needs to play like he has the past 5 games and Lillard just needs to be Lillard!

No.

Paul is willing to pay for a winning team

Well if I remember right I think it was last summer that Paul said he wasn't going to spend for a team like he did in 2000 ever again because he doesn't think he should have to. The way that Treaty_of_Batum puts it with "a very good top 8 players that have chemistry" that sounds a bit like a team of 2000

No way even close to the same. The payroll for that squad was a blistering 95 million after luxury tax. They had 4 max players and many 8-9 mil players.

Allen is right. You can have 3 near max players, 3 8 mil players and still be well under 2000 team

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

Nope

The title of this thread is so suspenseful.. I had no idea how the sentence was going to end!

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

No, we need a Good Center or SF/PF coming off the bench to be legit playoff team

I don't think that's the question. I think he's asking if our big three good enough to lead a team to a championship.

Basically or interpreted: "is this big three good enough to build around to contend?"

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

The question should be if they can even get us into the playoffs first. Baby steps

But I'm talking about our long term goal not the short term goal. To my understanding the Blazers are building this team to win a championship and they are building around Lillard, Batum and Aldridge as our big core main guys. That is unless Paul decides to go money happy and decides to have 4 max players again and many 8-9 mil players.

I think so if we have much better players complimenting them.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

What about Tiago Splitter? He was talked about on the Talkin' Ball show, after the Bulls game and he is free agent after this season. He's a backup to Duncan. Splitter is having a good year so far. Would you be comfortable of letting J.J Hickson go for this guy?
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3233/tiago-splitter
Splitter scored 17 points (6-12 FG, 5-6 FT) with seven rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's game against the Warriors.

Spin: Splitter continued his consistent March numbers with another strong rebounding and scoring game. His overall numbers in March (10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 54 percent from the field) are not eye-popping, but can be considered a guarantee each night for the Spurs' big man.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

Is this a joke?

This team is light years behind the Drexler and Wallace eras. And the Blazers are going to have to be even better than that if they want to win a title, because the refs are going to fuck em.

Re: Are the Blazers big three good enough to wheel this team to a championship in the

No.
