There was an interesting discussion on the 3on3 Blazers podcast about the Team 3 point shooting, according to the Team stats, the Blazers are 23rd on 3 point attempts in the league, and this is weird, because this roster was build with better shooters theoretically. I understand that in the past we were in the bottom of 3 point attempts, because we didn't have many good 3 point shooters, but with this group the Blazers should be in top 10

I was surprised to see of Bbref that three Blazers are actually 11th leaguewide (at the moment) in 3pt%. I was also NOT surprised to learn that they are 29th in percent of 3s assisted. Only the Celtics have a higher percent of off-the-dribble 3s.

I agree that we should be shooting more 3's, and I think our scheme should feature more effective ball movement to facilitate such shots.

Wonder where we rank in mid-range shot attempts.

The Blazers are down a bit on attempts this year but it has more to do with how many 3 point shots are now being done in a game. 5 years ago, there was one team that averaged over 30 3 point shots per game. This year we already have 21 teams averaging over 30 shots and 5 teams shooting over 40 with Houston leading the way with over 47. The game has changed in a very short time.

You're right, and you're not right. The Blazers are currently at 33.3% of their shots this year from beyond the arc, which is slightly down from 33.9% last year, so that decrease is irrespective of changes in the game. However, if you compare their figure this year with league totals from 2014-15--just 5 seasons ago--their current rate would place them 3rd in the league, unmistakably highlighting the change in the game that you mentioned.

What exactly am I wrong about?

Seemed pretty clear to me. Not worth arguing about though.

lol, sure. A difference of opinions doesn't mean one is right or one is wrong. They are just different opinions. Nobody was arguing as I was just asking for clarification rather than you just doing a drive by.

Carry on.

Personally the 3 point shot has become so overused in the NBA that it has become more of an annoyance to watch, as the game I love turns into a boring 3 point brick fest. :moresleep:

Sorry for the downer post... on topic: Yes, considering the league wide usage of the 3 point shot, the Blazers should be shooting more of them. (ugh :P)

I think they're trying early on to establish a fast break and driving the lane game ...they will get back to 3 pt shooting but Dame for one is driving and dishing....we are scoring in the paint more than we have in the past early on.
