UGH! Pacific Salmon?! why would I ever care about that... :green font:

At least the republicans are encouraging spending cuts to go with their tax cuts.

The strategy is clear by the Democrats. The Republicans want to roll back spending to 2008 levels, which is still too damn high (just like the rent). The Democrats are trying to ratchet spending so high next year in 2012 they can run on the GOP starving grandmothers and children.

It's a bullshit political move being made with money we'll owe to the Chinese. It's borderline treasonous behavior.

Uh, both sides have been doing shit like this for a while. Note the mess of the country when Obama took over and the GOPs blockade of letting ANYTHING get done by filibustering at record numbers. They did that for the election, and it worked. But it wasn't what was best for our country. They didn't give a shit, why should the Dems?

Both parties are putting politics ahead of country. If you can't see that, you need to take off your right-wing glasses.

I mean, look at how Clinton left the country for a Republican when he left office. Then look how the republican left it for a democrat. They spent, spent, spent, and then the severe recession forced more spending, which was criticized by the republicans in order to win back the House. It goes both ways, and these conspiracy theories can be made both ways.

Your feign outrage at the left is amusing though. You've been around politics long enough to not be surprised by this stuff.

Someday you'll stop using the "they were doing first" or "look at what Bush did" crap as excuses.

You have an amazing ability to selectively read. He started the the post with
both sides have been doing shit like this for a while
, gave examples from Bush AND Clinton. And you come off like it was partisan.

Take off the glasses bboy

Uh, no. I made no reference to anything partisan. You might want to check your "selectively read" comment. If you took my post to be partisan, you clearly have a bias while reading and might want to rethink that.

Regardless of which side is over spending, using the "they have been doing this for awhile" excuse is lame, and just plain stupid. Yet it is thrown out there continuously by some posters.

Once again, I had nothing partisan in my post. The only reason you assume it is partisan is because you come on here reading with a bias to begin with. Take off the glasses bluefrog.

Stop the bullshit blaming game. The blaming game is why this country can't get anything done. Both sides are fucking up seriously and it is time for this shit to end. Spending cuts need to come across the board, from every program. Everybody built this deficit, everybody should feel the pain of repaying it.

What is really sad is this deficit situation reminds me of the recent real estate meltdown. Everybody wants all the shit in the world, and nobody wants to have to pay for it. The facts are in life, if you build up a big credit bill, its going to be a real pain in the ass to pay it off. But you have to buckle down, make cuts, and make it happen or you end up living on the street.

So you think the GOP should have rubber stamped everything Pelosi, Reid and Obama wanted? Perhaps the GOP actually disagreed with their vision of the role of government in our lives? Nah, it would have to be personal and political, after all who could disagree with taking over GM, the stimulus and Obamacare?

Repped.

I would love to see spending cuts across the board. I would even be willing to pay higher taxes, if I has assurances that those taxes would go to paying down the debt/balancing the budget rather than new spending programs.

This past election was about as clear a signal as you'll ever see. As PJ O'Rourke put it, it was a restraining order. Yet they're pulling the same shit as they're getting booted out the back. My greatest ire are for members of the GOP (Bennett, Voinovich, etc.) who are going to vote for this pile of steaming manure. It is ruling against the will of the people.

Did our representatives learn nothing from this past election?

Obviously, since they cease being "our representatives" and persue their own personal agendas and ambitions the day after the election.... regardless of party.

yep!

Reid pulled the bill. I think Senators are hearing the footsteps of 2012 already. It's a good sign for our future.

This wasn't about that at all. I was amazed at your partisan response to the issues of this thread because I know that you know better than that. What you said is spun worse than O'Reilly's "No spin zone".

A quick scan of the actual use for these funds turns up nothing alarming. Nearly all will make America a healthier, much safer place to live. That's the kind of stuff I WANT my tax $ to go for. I didn't read it all, just the stuff Republicans pointed out. They'd rather be like China.

If the Reps want to trim the budget (history proves they don't, never have, never will, just lie about it) They should start by bringing all of our occupying troops and equipment home from around the world, eliminate all business subsidies and credits of any kind, get a grip on the illegal alien invasion, end the Bush bribes for the rich, and enact legislation to stop the massive fraud committed against our government by contractors.

How can you not scan the text of the bill and see stuff like 900 million dollars for some youth activities bullshit? I couldn't even begin to tell you where it was in that monstrosity along with stuff like Women's History Museums and other garbage. Hey, if some women want to make a women's museum they can do it on their own OK?

Then your second paragraph is perfect. I agree with everything you wrote in that paragraph. Well, I can't really name the Bush bribes for the rich but I am sure they are probably real.

Hell, someone pick a page at random and we will see what is on it and decide if it a worthwhile expense. I like Oldsmobiles so I will pick page 442. Now I am going to go see what the money is for.

Trying to read that is almost impossible. I think I have it figure out though how they bleed the money off into their own pockets.

Goes like this....

900 million to be distributed as such....

80 million to so and so fund.....

to be distributed to so and so's other project.......

50 million 300 and 42 thousand to be distributed to such and such

all 900 million to go back to the boys and girls club of P.O. Box number 666 route 66 Bumfuck South Dakota

Then those pricks get the money. Has to be.

Link?

What exactly did I say that wasn't "thinking for myself"? Or are you just resorting to your regular fall back comment when you are out of thing to say?
