The strategy is clear by the Democrats. The Republicans want to roll back spending to 2008 levels, which is still too damn high (just like the rent). The Democrats are trying to ratchet spending so high next year in 2012 they can run on the GOP starving grandmothers and children.

I would love to see spending cuts across the board. I would even be willing to pay higher taxes, if I has assurances that those taxes would go to paying down the debt/balancing the budget rather than new spending programs.

This past election was about as clear a signal as you'll ever see. As PJ O'Rourke put it, it was a restraining order. Yet they're pulling the same shit as they're getting booted out the back. My greatest ire are for members of the GOP (Bennett, Voinovich, etc.) who are going to vote for this pile of steaming manure. It is ruling against the will of the people.

How can you not scan the text of the bill and see stuff like 900 million dollars for some youth activities bullshit? I couldn't even begin to tell you where it was in that monstrosity along with stuff like Women's History Museums and other garbage.
