Theories right now are Mexican drug cartels because she was outspoken against them and for border security. Also it may be a tea partier because this seems like it is over health care. Her office was also vandalized over health care.

We'll see. The suspect was shot once i believe, but he was taken alive. If it is from the drug cartel (I forget where i heard that), then i hope we send in some air strikes in Mexico. If it is a tea partier, I hope the blame goes directly to their hate filled leaders. (Don't refill... reload... durr... 2nd AMMENDMENT!)

According to MSNBC, the hospital spokesman and sheriff say she is still alive. FOX said they confirmed her dead, but Fox isn't really news.

I hope Fox is wrong, but if they're not, it makes MSNBC look ... not so good.

Fox is also reporting at least 12 people were shot.

The man was young, mid-to-late 20s, white clean-shaven with short hair and wearing dark clothing and said nothing during the shooting or while being held down. He didn't look like a businessman, but more of a "fringe character," our source said.

CNN just changed it's "died" comment to "shot" and msnbc said she's alive and in critical condition.

MSNBC was reporting NPR's report that she had died. MSNBC interviewed the spokesperson of the hospital in Tuscon and the Congresswoman is in surgery. Four died on the scene.

Not sure what Fox is saying currently or CNN as I'm going with MSNBC currently. An NBC affiliate (KVOA) is reporting that she has died. Lots of confusion going on. Can't really go with anyone other than MSNBC at the moment as they interviewed the spokesperson of the hospital she's at.

MSNBC talked to the sheriff who talked to her and the hospital spokeswoman who said she was in surgery and currently alive. MSNBCs word and sources >>> Fox. Especially when you think about the past.

But anyway, my prayers are with her. God Bless her and lets hope for a recovery.

Fox being the most watched news network needs to get their story straight. To say a congressperson is confirmed dead, even when other networks were saying she was alive in critical condition is irresponsible. They should be held to higher standards, but they are not.

I was devastated when i turned to Fox. And full of hope of a recovery when i changed the channel to MSNBC.

Again, prayers to her and her family for a full recovery.

Sounds like everyone reported her dead. NPR did first, then MSNBC did, Fox did, CNN did, Huffington Post did, Rueters did. Whatever your political leanings are, your preferred media outlet had it wrong at some point.

MSNBC is reporting that AP is confirming that at least one of the currently deceased is one of Gifford's political aides.

Others reported that NPR or whoever was saying she was killed. Not by their own sources. But anyway, I agree lets get past this.

From the sounds of it, congresspeople aren't rolling deep when they show up to these events. They have someone who keeps track of threats presented and decides if someone gets security coverage or not. Rep. Giffords did not have any threats according to some folks interviewed on MSNBC and was not receiving coverage. There has been mention of a gun hitting the floor at an event she had previously, but that appears to be someone who just dropped a concealed weapon and not a threat.

Apparently 3 of her aids were shot.

The event was for her constituants to come tell her how the feel about things...

Fox says it got its info from 2 federal law enforcement officials in Arizona and a high placed official on capital hill.

MSNBC is reporting that a federal judge was also shot on the scene.

MSNBC reports that there was someone identified as "private security" who returned fire on the gunman.

Didn't catch who they were interviewing at the time.
