The Springfield Armor battled the league-best Iowa Energy down to the wire tonight, but came up just shy in a 111-99 defeat.

The Energy (30-10) and Armor (10-27) were tied 31-31 after one quarter and Iowa held a narrow 58-53 lead at halftime in the teams' only meeting of the season. Although the Armor managed to trim the lead on numerous occasions, the Energy forced 21 turnovers and shot nearly 52% from the field to hold the Armor at bay.

University of Vermont product, Marqus Blakely, led the Energy with a game-high 23 points (10-11 shooting) and 10 rebounds. Curtis Stinson, the NBA D-League's Co-Performer of the Month in February, played all 48 minutes and contributed 22 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Six of the Energy's eight players scored in double figures on the evening.

The Armor were led by Gavin Edwards, who scored 20 points (17 in the first half) and pulled down 6 rebounds. JamesOn Curry added 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Scottie Reynolds finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.

The Armor out-rebounded Iowa 43-38and held the Energy to 6-25 (24%) shooting from beyond the arc in the defeat.

The Energy, who have now won five in a row, will travel to Maine to take on the Red Claws tomorrow. The Armor will also return to action tomorrow evening when they host the Dakota Wizards at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center.

The Armor will be honoring all of the participating Springfield-area students who recently completed the team's ‘Read to Achieve' program on the court prior to tomorrow's 7:00 tip-off.
