CJ has played his entire career in the western conference. Back court positions have been tough to come by.

good point, but I think it's really more about team success. If we had more team success, CJ would have been an allstar already.CJ has played his entire career in the western conference. Back court positions have been tough to come by.

I’ve already bet $100 on the Blazers in Vegas. That’s my limit for sports betting this season. And Zion and Ingram are way better than anyone other than Dame on our team. Valanciunas is better than Nurk.
Willing to make a bet with you that the Pels have a better record at year end.

Okay.they aren't so easy to come by in the East either. Last season:
Trae Young, Kyrie Irving, Darius Garland, LaMelo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Tyrese Maxey, Zach LaVine, Jaylen Brown, Bradley Beal, James Harden, DeMar Derozan, Marcus Smart, Fred Van Vleet, Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton
going back back 5 years:
Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas (averaged 29 & 6 that year), Kemba Walker, John Wall (before the injuries), Kyle Lowry, Demar Derozan, Victor Oladipo (before the injuries), Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton
the East was weaker at guard 5 years ago, but still had at least 5 high level guards
That’s more impressive than PrimeTime or Bo Jackson!!!
I can't believe D Wade is signing with the cavs.
wut? time machine?
There’s always talent in both conferences but we’ve had years in which 5 of 6 all nba guards were from west.they aren't so easy to come by in the East either. Last season:

I agree with this. The wests backcourt players over the last 8 years have been pretty outstanding. There’s always talent in both conferences but we’ve had years in which 5 of 6 all nba guards were from west.

Unless the Pels are the top team in the west, CJ still won't be an all-star. Either he'll be the 3rd-best player on the team behind Zion and Ingram, or one (or both) of those top two will be injured and the Pels won't be good enough for CJ to warrant an all-star nod.He will probably get picked this year and Dame will get snubbed.
I also have money on the Blazers, but not for the titleI’ve already bet $100 on the Blazers in Vegas. That’s my limit for sports betting this season.
You don't think the coaches vote that determines most of the all star selections is something more than a popularity contest?Listen, Dame would only be a what....2 time allstar if it weren't for injuries to players ahead of him in vote count... Remember. I just don't feel popularity contests should have a factor in judging players. It's no different than allowing the nut jobs that roam this place have a say.
People keep bringing this up.....but how long has this been in effect/affect? 5 seasons? What about ALLLLL the seasons where it was simply nut job fans in their moms basements pointing on keyboards? For decades it decided a players value. Now I see players from today being compared to players from the 80s and people use the number of all star game appearances as if it's some significant stat. You don't think the coaches vote that determines most of the all star selections is something more than a popularity contest?

The coaches have always selected the reserves. The fan vote has only ever affected the starters.People keep bringing this up.....but how long has this been in effect/affect? 5 seasons? Like championship rings.... Stacey King vs Karl Malone. Will Perdue vs Barkley.
If the right person isn't using these accomplishments correctly, it's an absolute mess.
Simply amazing. People are just talking about him passing Kareem. Didn't even realize this.
Andrew Wiggins last yearThe coaches have always selected the reserves. The fan vote has only ever affected the starters.
My question to you who is dismissing the value of all-star selections due to fan voting: how many times has a player who didn't deserve an all-star nod been voted a starter by the fans? Can you come up with a single time?
You're operating with bad info. Coaches have picked the reserves since 1961. For a little while in the 80's through some time in the 90's only the head coach of the two all star teams picked the reserves but that was only for like 15 seasons and then they went back to a consensus of all head coaches. Fans have never picked the reserves. The NBA started allowing fans to pick the starters in 1974-75 but gave the players and media each 25% of the vote for starters in 2016-17. Again, to be clear the fans have never had any say in the all star reserves and have rarely picked a starter that wouldn't have made the team.People keep bringing this up.....but how long has this been in effect/affect? 5 seasons?
