So will the Jazz blow it up….LIKE THEY SHOULD, or run a flawed roster back, killing players value, like Olshey did year after year?

And he’s… Benedict Aldridge. Who wants him.
I really don’t care about that. That’s like the Cavs refusing to take LeBron back because he made a choice they didn’t like. Plus, I put more blame on the GM for not trading him when it was clear LMA was going to leave.

I just don’t think he’s a helpful player.

Don't kid yourself, CJ was the best player in that deal... because the pick didn't convey we got fucking killed in the trade and I like Hart but if Nance is healthy Hart might actually be the third best player in that trade... I'm not saying he is but it's close.

CJ definitely tightens up in the playoffs and has pretty much his whole career with a few exceptional games. This series though he had to go against CP3 and even though CJ wasn't hitting a ton he kept teams from collapsing on Ingram and that allowed the series to be competitive. Add Zion to that if he can ever stay healthy and whoever they get with the Lakers pick and CJ is a good vet to be leading them if Willie Green can drill it through CJ's thick skull that he is not the best scorer on the team and needs to have better shot selection.

Like I said, glad that he's gone but he's a very good ball player and we didn't get enough for him. For the record he is much better than Hart.
CJ is certainly the better offensive player but I can’t help but think Hart is a bit closer to CJ than you (or I) thought.

Arguably a better passer.
Better rebounder.
Better defender.

And MAJOR *if* he shoots the 3 ball at 37% like he did with the Blazers (on volume) then that’s a pretty good player.

It’s more likely that D Mitch requests a trade than anyone on the Blazers, so they might be saved from the perpetual run it back outcome.

Utah needs to rebuild, with two all stars in their prime but Portland needs to just tweak a few things and they’ll be alright?

Yes if the rumors are true that the two "stars" don't get along. It's not like Mitchell and Gobert are Kobe and Shaq where there is so much talent they can overcome the sudden lack of chemistry.

Interesting stat line for the Jazz centers last night. Between Gobert and Whitehead.....zero assists, zero steals, zero turnovers, zero blocks. ( Each with 1 offensive rebound) Everything went through Conley and Mitchell.

If by "interesting" you mean "dismal", I agree. ;)

They pay Rudy Super Star bucks but he's not a super star, imo. If he was he'd couple his D with a lethal offensive game and take over games like last night. He should have dominated the Mav's last night.

I'd love Gobert on the Blazers, if the Blazers didn't use him the way the Jazz do AND he was making about half of what he is.

I imagine he would have a lethal offensive game if paired with a Chris Paul type. Gobert's only real move is the 'oop, which he's absolutely elite at, but that requires a consistently willing setup man. With today's perimeter-oriented bigs, I'm not sure there are many who could stop that.

I'm sure a lot of knowledgeable Pels fans have noticed that:

* in the playoffs, CJ averaged 1 more FGA than Ingram but 5 less points
* that Ingram averaged 6.2 assists while CJ averaged 4,8 and is supposed to be the PG
* that CJ was 10th on the team in TS% & winshares/48 in the series
* that in the last 7 games (2nd play-in) CJ scored 152 points on 149 shots (21.7 pts on 21.3 shots)

* that CJ, for the Pels:

FG%: regular season .493....playoffs .392
3ptFG%: regular season .394....playoffs .333
TS%: regular season .580....playoffs .487
Assist%: regular season .31.3%....playoffs 20.5%
winshare/48: regular season .140....playoffs .045
BPM: regular season +4.6....playoffs +0.6

and I would think they aren't chortling so much about the trade, especially after studying CJ's salary the next 2 seasons

So nice seeing CJ be someone else's problem. The best player in the trade was Josh Hart.

Could not possibly agree more.
Younger, more versatile, and most important.......attitude.

I think generically CJ is probably a little better, not by much though

however Josh Hart at 13M/year >>> CJ at 33M/year
and Dame + Hart >>> Dame + CJ

Yeah, I would say this is pretty much true of about 80% of all starting centers these days. Few are worth max contracts. Unless you can land a Jokic or Embiid, it is better to have a couple of different types s of centers. One who is really big and can defend the rim, and another who can shoot/defend away from the basket. You need both.

Conley is no slouch as a set up man. Zero blocks last night for a guy his size?

IMO, there are only 3 'big' men in the NBA worth a max deal: Jokic, Embiid, & Giannis. And Giannis is probably more wing than a big man. And both Jokic & Embiid can go out on the perimeter shooting three's and making passes

the meteor of the three point line caused the extinction of dinosaur big men

So true.
However, in basketball, like life itself, everything comes in cycles.
The Center, will be a force again, someday.
It will take more than a seven footer who weighs 180 pounds though.

Who was worse in their respective series, CJ or Trae Young?
