Not quite that bad, but certainly not deep at all

Dame/Shabazz
CJ/Baldwin/Wilcox
Fournier/Turner
Collins/Harkless
Nurk/Meyers

Suddenly very thin up front, and I don't think Fournier makes us better enough to deal nearly every PF on the roster.

At this point, Wilcox and Baldwin aren’t on contract next year

Everyone. When you are on the road, you get a good feel for relationships and how the guys get along. I think Afflalo was pissed he joined us and had to come off the bench at first, and it soured him. He was just a jerk really.
I think I'll write a book when I retire. Well maybe one of you will write it for me because I still don't know whether to use effect or affect correctly.

It's more of a black vs white thing, but people generally don't like to talk about that... Racism is an acceptable topic. Reverse racism makes people squirm in their seats.
You know what interesting about this post, it's real. It's a cultural thing for sure. I work with a bunch of middle aged white guys. And I am quite sure my sense of humor shocks the shit out of em. They are used to it now, but I've heard guys say they were shocked I made fun of somebody's sister or was cracking on somebody's shoes........ that's just how I was raised. I rode the school bus and it was 90% black kids. It started in middle school with Yo Mama jokes and took off. They used to call it "stinging" or "clowning" on people.
You either stepped your game up and fired back, or you were literally looked down upon for not standing your ground. In a way it was like fighting. If you got off a good "sting" on somebody before you left the bus, you good for the day at school.
May sound weird, but I was raised around it. And when I was around my white friends, it just didn't happen. So when somebody usually says it's a black vs white thing, I kinda blow that off. But in this situation, I agree with you.

These guys are going to win 50+ games without their best player. Preseason I swear some on here claimed we'd finish ahead of them........

Interesting, my experience was different. I grew up in NE Portland in the 70's and played ball after school with friends who were black, but for the most part I was pretty much surrounded by all whites going to a catholic grade school and highschool, and then in a fraternity at Oregon......and we were absolutely fucking ruthless to one another when we were clowning around. There were very few boundaries......and it was non stop.

Maybe it is a NE Portland thing......

Absolutely agree. I grew up NE Rocky Butte area. Madison HS. We destroyed anyone who could not come back with a burn. Up your nose with a rubber hose style. Started with Welcome back Kotter and Your Momma jokes. Bow you head in shame type thing....
It really must have been a NE Portland thing.

Maybe it's a geographical/cultural thing and not racial?

And now that I know you were a Senator, I wish I could take back all my LIKES I've sent your way FAMS!

Shoot, we might have rode the same bus to school.

There's a lot more to it than just the Yo Mamma jokes angle. Guys like Meyers and Brad Miller get under players' skin way too easily for it to not be purely a racial thing. We all know it with the "goofy white guy" references, but we tip toe around the underlying issue. White guys are expected to back down from a physical challenge, and it royally pisses off some black guys when it doesn't happen.

Kinda like the beef between me and that dviss cat!

Heck back in the day Grant was a huge rival but at least they were cool. Benson was all dudes. Now the Techmen we really didn't like at all.

Ya, the only Benson kids I knew were my friends that went there to shine in sports. Never had beef with Madison guys. Now Jeff kids on the other hand.......

No it's racial. Black people tend to value material things because we don't have them. When someone was wearing some Volume/Payless shoes they were instantly stung on.

You had to be clever and come up with something funny to say. I really think this is where battle rap was born.

I was a "Jeff kid" for one year. My mother tried unsuccessfully to transfer me before I went. It didn't happen. Went to Grant the next year and was bullied far less. Had to SMASH this kids face for burning my Kid-N-Play flat top with a lighter.

We called them the Jefferson "Dancers". Ha! They sucked back then so they fit the bill.

They've never been good during my school years. We SMASHED them at every sport.
After the influx of Vietnamese in the early 80's things changed at Madison. A lot of families moved out of the area. Not sure if any of you are old enough to remember the racial wars there? Literally hundreds of Vietnamese students were thrust into the school in a couple years. Some of those students weren't even kids. They were 20-30 year old boat people. It was a tough thing for all to deal with.

I think Madison is now 5A instead of 6A? Do they still have the PIL as a division?

Central Catholic? I, too, was raised in the 70s in NE Portland.
