LA makes no sense for him compared to Philadelphia. He wants to win, he has wanted to win for his entire career and joining a struggling team that hasn’t been in the playoffs for 5 years is not really the best attempt at putting yourself in a winning position.

He would also immediately throw himself into the battle against two of the best teams in the NBA who have much more quality than Lakers even if Lakers get LeBron. Even with James you are looking at a pretty ordinary line up of young players who might or might not become good enough to compete. Ball and Ingram still need to prove that they can do well on a winning team in the league, Simmons and Embiid have already shown they can lead their teams to a very good record while dominating teams.

He would need to have them rebuild the entire team and that might not even be enough to go further than the second round for 2-3 years. I don’t think he is willing to sacrifice two or three seasons of his career deep into his 30s for no reason at all. Do you go there and hope better players follow you a year or two later, with the risk of missing out on competing for a period of time? Why? Because it’s sunny California?

Also, if it doesn’t work out for him in LA it will tarnish his legacy somewhat. It is not only much less likely for him to fail in Philadelphia but even if he fails to deliver championship there, it won’t be recognized as failure the same as it would be in Los Angeles.

He will get to the Finals with 76ers. He might not get anywhere near with Lakers.
Why would you assume it would be Lakers? Clippers makes more sense and they have money.

I just can't really see LeBron going to Philadelphia? Why? He can go to LA and players will follow him. Matter of fact he can pretty much go anywhere and players will follow him.

He can do the same here! :devilwink:

After going 11-11 from the line last night, Dame climbed to 2nd in FT% behind only Steph. Steph is at 92.05%, Dame at 91.81%.

In the five remaining games, if Dame averages the same FTA as he has all season, he'd put up about 36 FTs. Take away about 10 of those for resting, he's gonna shoot about 26 shots. If he hits 25/26, he'll pass Curry for #1.

Having the the ball in the hands of a >90% FT shooter with the game on the line is such an incredible luxury that I think is sometimes overlooked or taken for granted.

When you have the lead in a close game, and your opponent starts fouling for possession you can close out any hopes of a comeback by knocking down your FTs.

When you are trailing, aggressively attacking the basket and drawing fouls can allow you to claw back in the game by scoring with the clock stopped.

Not all teams have this luxury. I think it would be cool if Dame won the FT% title this year, after C.J. won it last year.

In addition to Curry at .920 and Dame at .918, Marco Belinelli is also at .918 and Chris Paul is at .917, Jamaal Murray is at .911 and J.J. Redick is at .905.

The difference is volume. Dame is 3rd in the league in made FTs, trailing only James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo. With 460 made FTs, Dame is the only >90% FT in the top 20 in made FTs.

Here is a list of all >90% FTs shooters sorted by the number of made FTs.

Damian Lillard = 460 made FTs at .918 FT%
Steph Curry = 278 made FTs at .920 FT%
Jamaal Murray = 215 made FTs at .911 FT%
Chris Paul = 198 made FTs at .917 FT%
J.J. Redick = 181 made FTs at .905 FT%
Marco Belinelli = 134 made FTs at .918 FT%

When it comes to made FTs among >90% FT shooters, Dame isn't just blowing the field away, he's practically lapping them all.

Anyone here thinks the Rockets just gave the game to the Spurs yesterday so they can move up to 3rd? They just don’t want to meet them in the 2nd round if both teams advances.

After reading this, I had to research and follow up--this is only the second season in NBA history (per Bkref) in which a player has made over 450 FT with a FT% above .915.

Only 10 times has anyone even been over 91% with 400 made FTs. Interesting that a guy I've seen Dame compared to several times--Chauncey Billups--did it 3 separate times.

I was about to ask... Have any teammates led the league in FT% back to back years? Seems pretty unlikely.

Looks like Miller and Mullin did so in 98 & 99

Prior to that Calvin Murphy and Rick Barry in 80 & 81, although Barry wasn't still there when Murphy did it.

And then there was Larry Costello and Dolph Schayes for Syracuse back in the 60's. How could anyone forget about that duo?!
