Watching the Clipper-Kings game. Cousins is great on offense, but my god he is so slow on defense. I don't care what his stats say.... the same shit we say about Leonard....you can say about Cousins. He is slow to react and has no clue where the ball is. He is a mental midget.

Oh and Bill Schooner continues to suck. Called a kicked ball late in the game when the ball was clearly deflected by CP3's hand. Wasn't even close. Instead of a steal, the kings got it back and hit a 3 to make it close at the end. Nice to see the refs suck in other games other than ours.

Kings start a tough home schedule and then a lot of road games. We will pass them for sure.

Oh come on
Leonard sucks at everything except shooting the 3. Well most of the time he sucks at that too
DMC is an offensive monster

I was strictly talking about defense. I started out by saying Cousins was great on offense. But if you watched him play tonight on D he was lost most of the time. He looks over weight and was very slow to react to players attacking the basket.

Grit'n'grind beats pace'n'space:

Conley making everyone forget about that Aaron Harrison guy...

I remember when people were talking about Antetokounmpo before the draft, I read a scout say "people keep comparing him to Batum - he'll never be that good".
Sigh.
The 2013 draft:
1. Cavaliers Anthony Bennett PF
2. Magic Victor Oladipo SG
3. Wizards Otto Porter SF
4. Bobcats Cody Zeller PF
5. Suns Alex Len C
6. Pelicans Nerlens Noel C
7. Kings Ben McLemore SG
8. Pistons Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG
9. Timberwolves Trey Burke PG
10. Trail Blazers C.J. McCollum PG
11. 76ers Michael Carter-Williams PG
12. Thunder Steven Adams C
13. Mavericks Kelly Olynyk PF
14. Jazz Shabazz Muhammad SF
15. Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo SF

Boy, if anyone says Oden was the worst #1 pick ever, just smack them with a printout of this.

I love how terrible Kings are with their picks. I went through their last 5 years of selections and all were appalingly terrible. Even when they hit a jackpot with Thomas af 60 they traded him for Thornton and a pick (which turned into nothing more than Papagiannis I think) and never had a point guard as good since.

Stauskas (ahead of LaVine, Warren and Nurkic)
Robinson (ahead of Lillard, Drummond, Barnes)
Cauley Stein (ahead of Booker, Myles Turner and Winslow)
Biyombo (ahead of Klay Thompson, Butler, Kawhi Leonard and Kemba Walker )
McLemore (ahead of McCollum, Gobert, Antetokounmpo and Adams)

I think the best drafters are the ones who are prepared to draft the player they like regardless of where other people have him ranked...AND that player turns out to be good (had to add that, because otherwise the Cleveland GM fits the mold because NOBODY had Bennett #1). So Sam Presti gets major props for Westbrook and Harden, because both were surprises. The Jazz scored hugely with Gobert in that 2013 draft, but it's more that everyone above them was stupid. Same with the Warriors and Draymond Green. The Bucks deserve credit for Giannis, because #15 is still considered a valuable pick and you're not supposed to just gamble with it, and no Bucks fan was hoping for a Greek with an African name.

Yes I agree the Jazz were lucky not wise. They traded the 14th and 21st pick that year to get Trey Burke. Then took Gobert at 27.

They did have Thomas. Who they let go in a sign and trade? IDK.

Ah I somehow remembered it was them who traded Thomas for Thornton and pick. Sign and trade was for Oriakhi, I don't know who that is. They still let Thomas go and never had as good a point guard since. Were they somehow forced to let him go? I don't understand why you would move Isaiah Thomas in sign and trade like that.

Read this today, thought it was great

Ha! That is pretty good. But also illustrates D'Antoni's lack of depth.

The corner 3 may provide the 2nd highest bang for your buck, but if you miss it usually puts you in the worst position for transition defense. No surprise, Mike gives zero thought to that end of the floor.

Also, using league average PPS for a post-up is stupid if you have a guy who is good in the post. That number is low because most teams no longer have a good low post player. But it sounds like if Mike had Olajuwon he wouldn't use him in the post because league average says it's the worst thing you could do on offense. Now I get that HOU doesn't have a low post option, so it would be stupid for them. But it was never stupid when Duncan was banking shots off the glass, or when Griffin is spinning off defenders for dunks, etc.

Mike is a gimmick.

Thank you! And actually, even the stats say he's not a great defender. I've wanted to trade for DMC for a few years now, but I've never been one to over-rate his defense. Sure, he'd be our best defender - but that's pretty meaningless when our current best defender is average at best.

It was widely reported that Thomas was a good teammate on and off the court.
He didn't get technical fouls or fined for chasing officials/announcers to the parking lot.
He also didn't spit his pacifier at the other team, or set a world record for saying ridiculous in 10 seconds.
Thomas was believed to have a desire to win games, which would have hurt the King's ability to draft another mental midget like Cousins.
Coincidentally these reasons are why the Kings passed on Lillard for T-Rob.

:D

Umm, those quotes are from Dan D'Antoni, head coach at Marshall, his alma mater, not his younger brother Mike.

Soon Phil Jackson will be out and NO can go back home as GM of the NYK.

I hate the fact that NY fell ass backwards into Porzingis. That franchise doesn't deserve him.

Him going against Giannis is an awesome matchup

I watched that game, they both played like future 1st teamers. What's crazy, is that GA can guard KP so well. I think he even blocked KP 2 out of his 5 blocks

Side note. Jason terry only scored one point, but he looked 20 years old. Without scoring, he was killing them in the short time he was in the game. It was kinda weird.
