Having lived in (west) Philly for 2 yrs, I feel like people hate on that city too much. Center city area is awesome. Very liveable.

Proximity to NY of course is also awesome.
Spent 2 months in Philly going to firefighting/damage control schools while in the navy. A seriously kick ass adventure for a small city boy. Tallest buildings this rube had ever seen. But scary too. Loved the history but never felt like the people were the friendliest. But, the biggest shock (and almost impossible for anyone to believe, especially back in those days) was how great the cops were. They really looked out for the navy, while letting us have some fun. But then, I'm white too. The best part was having the Spectrum a quick walk right outside the base gates. Got to see the (9-73, with first round pick Freddie Boyd from OSU) Sixers and the up and coming Bobby Clarke Flyers anytime we wanted for almost next to nothing. Great concerts anytime the sports teams weren't playing. And I won't even mention the cheesesteaks and hoagies.....Philadelphia does get a bad rap sometimes.....

It's all kinda moot because I doubt players ever live IN the city itself. I'm sure Philly has some fantastic suburban towns within 15 miles.

It's not so much the city, as it is the PHI fans that get hated on, and you have to admit, that any fan base that boos Santa, chucks D cell batteries at J.D. Drew and had the first (and I believe) only stadium in the world to have it's own courtroom and jail IN THE STADIUM has earned that negative reputation.

And, I didn't even mention a fan intentionally vomiting on the 11-year old daughter of off-duty cop, or Eagles fans cheering when Micheal Irvin was wheeled off the field on a stretcher with a career ending neck injury.

The city may be beautiful and rich in history, but the fans are the least classy in North America, if not the world.

Only visited Philly, but enjoyed my time there. The great food goes way beyond their well known cheese steaks.

Not sure if this is still true or not. But 20 years ago, all bars & taverns were required to maintain a certain % of their business as food service. Or they would loose their liquor license.

Every little dive bar would compete for your restaurant $$ with great home cooked type meals at reasonable prices.

Spent a week in Philly in the beginning of November last year and had a great time. Tagged along with the girlfriend as she was attending a conference, which meant I had literally zero agenda. Spent most of my time just walking around eating and drinking. Somehow ended up at a free Stevie Wonder concert one evening, that was a bonus. I don't think I would want to live there, but enjoyed my time touring the city. Everyone was friendly, actually had a long conversation with a guy that works for the 76ers. He is a trainer that works with either Embiid or Okafor (forget which) and other athletes from different sports doing some weird spacial dynamics training or something. It was a really interesting convo.

Their fans and staff at the stadiums are pretty terrible though.

My brother and I drove through Phili when I moved to NY. after driving about a half hour around the city center looking for an Authentic Phili Cheesecake place, we roll up to a red light next to a horsecop. I rolled the window down and asked where the best Phili Cheese steak in town is. He lead us about a mile down and then a left for another two miles. We found it. A tiny hole in the wall on a corner all faded yellow with bars on the windows and what looked like pushers on the corner.
We went in and the place smelled FANTASTIC, but was dirty as hell and looked to be a take out only type place.
Getting stared at by several hard core looking individuals as we wait for our sandwich is never fun.
As we pulled out(We were not hanging in the parking lot and eating there!) we saw this dude in a three wheel BMX contraption roll up and toss his cat off his shoulder onto the pavement and watched it scurry off into some bushes. We think it was his cat anyhow. Or maybe he was collecting meat for the venue? LOL We joked about that on the way out, but I tell ya, the cop was right. Even though he sent us into the fricken Ghetto, it was the best. and by the way.
It was a sunny day too. ;)

sorry...English Premiere League Soccer has some of the most violent and classless fans in the world....hooligans are the worst fans

It is for that VERY reason that I specified "North America" in my post!

This is why all Eagles fans can rot and I hope they never win a superbowl!

Minor signing.
Believe the Grizz signed Pierre Jackson to a 10 day contract.
He is a feisty PG that played for the Boise D league team a couple of years ago, but has not been able to stick on an NBA team.

Things have changed a lot with regards to that. Firms aren't really a thing anymore.

Knicks only scored 8 points in third quarter tonight.

GSW destroying CLE. Curry just hit a 3 at the 2nd quarter buzzer to make it 78-49 at the half.

I am shocked Green didn't get tossed after that. That wasn't was an attempt at a steal with lots of intentional body and the way flagrants are called now that should have been a 2 and him tossed. Then on top of that he gets into with Jefferson and gets a tech for that after the review but then goes on to taunt James by walking towards the Golden state bench and flailing his arms.

76ers are on a roll. Beat Bucks last night to make it 4 wins in the last 5 games (and 6 in the last 8). The losses came to Celtics in Boston (a marginal 4-point loss too) and in Washington when they were resting Embiid. They could be a playoffs material as early as next season (downside for them is they are probably not getting no. 1 picks next year if they carry on playing like this, but with so many point guards in the draft anyway it doesn't matter that much - they could draft a star PG at 5 or 6).

Next season? Why not this one? If people still think we have a shot at making the playoffs and facing someone other than the Warriors, than the Sixers have a shot at making the playoffs this year. They are actually closer to the 7 seed in their conference than we are in ours.

I wonder if they'll finally validate Sam Hinkie's tank-a-thon plan?

Well, they are 13-26. The 8th seed in East are Bucks with 20-20. Hornets are 20-21 just below them, the a host of clubs like Pacers, Bulls and Wizards who are 21-20 or 21-19. To go above any of them they will have to exceed .500 and it doesn't seem likely that they will go on a 29-14 run now.

We are somehow 8th seed despite 18-25 record. Nuggets, Kings and Pelicans are even worse than us although by the end of season I expect at least one of them to pip us to 8th. There's really no fight for 7th or 6th seeds for these teams though, Memphis and Oklahoma are both 25-18 and much better. The only way we could avoid Warriors (35-6) is that Spurs (31-9) surpass them.

Hard to be shocked at this point with all the stuff that cock bite gets away with. Flabbergasted maybe. Fuck Green and Fuck the NBA.
