I don’t understand how Harden has the greatest scoring rate of all time. Chamberlain averaged 50 ppg in a season.
Did they keep track of possessions back then? It's per-100 possessions. Chamberlain played a ridiculous number of minutes per game at a time when there was many more possessions per minute--the scoring rates imply that if Chamberlain played the same number of minutes and possessions as Harden, he'd score less.

Weren't there fewer possessions per minute because there was no shot clock?
Just by number or shots and other stats I'd think it could be calculated.Did they keep track of possessions back then?
1. Here's where Wilt's crappy FT% really hurts himIt's per-100 possessions. Allen Iverson to Receive $32M Trust Fund in 10 Years as Part of Reebok Contract
The NBA and NBPA really need to increase the retirement for players. This structure for Reebok might be a good model.
There should never be NBA athletes that made over $20 million and end up decades later totally broke. Have a way of setting aside a couple million of that and it can be a comfortable retirement no matter what stupid decision, fraud, addiction, mental health, etc a player does.
I know the NBA started some of this in 2011, they just need to expand that.
Issue there is can you force someone to invest / set aside their own money?
Seriously - where does it go?

There was a 24 second shot clock when Wilt was playing.
NE Portland’s VERY OWN! So proud of this dude!
LeBron even remembers his KIDS' games in photographic detail:
So, Vince Carter is finally retiring. His career was half amazing and half, “oh man”.
Probably the only "next Jordan" who at times conjured much of the magic of Michael Jordan.
