Don’t know why you are cussing at me. The Grizzlies are 3-5 and a few on here have already sent this un-scouted Coward kid to the Hall of Fame. I simply shared that an ACTUAL first ballot HOFer who is in his what, 15th season, is still out there getting it done.
Who is sending him to the Hall of Fame? I think its hard not to be in love with his potential. He has looked really good and appears like he can play defense.

Nothing wrong with day dreaming when we had the opportunity to take him.

As fans we always do that. I remember wishing we took Kuzma over Swanigan.

I have high hopes for Yang. Hope he ends up the best player in his class. If he doesn't, there will always be the what ifs.

I think people who think LeBron James' son isn't going to get press are fooling themselves. I also think folks need to look inward as to why they're so mad...
I think a lot of people are mad that a Black man got to use nepotism in a country where we used to be castrated if we were caught reading a book.
Now we're building schools and sending thousands of kids to college. To those people I say eat a dick. I hope Bron, Bronny, and Bryce all play on the same team. Fuck the haters.

Its annoying when nepotism is used by anyone, but I see your distinction and notice it. If it was there for anyone in our family, we would do it, that part is so true.

All of this Coward vs Yang talk on here is crazy. Coward is pretty much what he's going to be he had a four year run in college. The other thing that should always be noted is that we didn't take Yang over Coward we took Yang and an unrestricted future FRP for Coward. Obviously the team felt Coward was worth a future first and Yang in that moment and are hoping that down the line that Yang can be better than Coward.

Brandon Roy says hi.

Yes, everyone knows that we got a 1st with Yang. We still could have taken Coward who looks really really good. Nobody is saying Yang is garbage and will never turn into anything. It is pretty clear he needs lots of time before he will be useful, though.

sorry, but I think that's misleading IMO

to start with it implies that all Yang needs is simply some time to catch up to Coward and change the calculation. Well, Coward just turned 22 before the season began so it's not like he's reached all of his upside and is at the 'what-you-see-is-what-you-get' stage of his career. Coward is actually less than 2 years older than Yang; 21 months to be accurate. If Yang takes 3 steps forward in the next 2 years, Coward may take 5 steps forward; especially considering he's getting consistent playing time while Yang isn't. Anfernee Simons at 22 with 4 years of NBA experience wasn't nearly as good as Dame at 22 with no NBA experience. Some players simply enter the league well ahead of other players and the gap only grows no matter the relative ages at the same points in their careers

secondly, pointing to Coward's 'advantage' in experience glosses over the fact that Yang played in the CBA. That's a professional league that likely has more talent than that faced by Coward, at least more than when he played for Eastern Washington. Further, Yang played 96 games in the CBA while Coward played in 72 games in college; more than that is Yang played 3.173 minutes in the CBA while Coward only played 1910 minutes in college

in other words, the narrative that Yang is some inexperienced basketball player compared to Coward is pure bullshit. It's part of the tsunami of excuses and hype around Yang's current level of development. I'm surprised that anybody didn't realize that Yang was going to be a project big man. That was obvious at the time of the draft. I'm not sure what the actual success rate is for NBA project big men, but I'm assuming it's pretty low...

I mean, just in the last 20 years the Blazers have tried out Ha Seung-Jin, Luke Schenscher, Josh McRoberts, Jeff Ayers, Chris Johnson, Meyers Leonard, Joel Freeland, TRob, Noah Vonleh, Georgios Papagiannis, Caleb Swanigan, Skal Labissiere, Moses Brown, Harry Giles, TJ Leaf, Drew Eubanks, Chance Comanche, Ibou Badge, Duop Reath....that doesn't include other team's retreads like Hasheem Thabeet and Shavlick Randolph. So many projects, so little success!

I don't know what levels Yang and Coward will be in 3-4 years. If I had to bet it would be on Coward, but there are several variables that can't be known at this point. Additionally, if I had to bet I might be inclined to bet that 2028 pick will end up more valuable than Yang. I wouldn't bet it will be more valuable than Coward though

This guy truly was one of the top level elite defenders in the history of the game.

If it's possession with intent to distribute then I don't find that very sympathetic but if it's just possession for his own use then I hope he just has to do some time in rehab and try to get his life back on track.

Look, they're going to win even without the unforced errors but it would be nice if we didn't add to the misery
