This reminds me of people moaning that we dumped Zach Randolph too soon. Randolph needed a wakeup call and changed his ways. DA too. He's (a) playing for his next contract and (b) playing with great passers. He wouldn't've done that with us. Don't make us hope he gets injured just so you'll shut up about him.

Realistically speaking though, there’s a fat stack of teams in the 2020 draft that wish they had taken Maxey.

#21 in 2020 and probably only 2 players above him which arguably should have gone above him. #1 Anthony Edwards and #12 Tyrese Haliburton. Deni was #9 that year, and as of now I’d say Maxey gets the nod over Deni.

To add even more frustration, we could have had Bane(or anyone picked after), but we wanted to avoid the LT, so Memphis got him instead. 3 way deal where we dumped Hezonja, and Boston sent us Kanter. Memphis traded 2 future 2nds for that pick, and took on Mario's small contract.

I remember the trade, and at the time thinking that 2 first;s were too much, but offsetting that was the notion of an all-NBA defensive wing who was a prototypical 3&D guy. So, maybe a high price but decent value

but as it turned out he seemingly had already lost a step by the time he arrived in Portland and the high impact wing idea was more fictional than real. And he just disappeared completely in far too many games to justify paying two 1st's
