This season, on paper, yes. But it's the start of the season, and Melbourne has changed half their roster, so we'll find out. They came 6th out of 8 teams last season, but the NBL is a very even league, and any team can beat anyone on any given night.
To further put it in context, the NBL has a $1,100,00 AUD ($855,000 USD) soft cap. They don't publish player salaries, but teams don't go greatly over. In addition, teams are only allowed to have 3 non Australian/NZ players.
I'm happy that Melbourne lost, but find it funny that OKC had to play their stars so much to get it done.
