Do they need another Center? They have Amir Johnson.
We'd just be swapping back-up back-up Cs with PHI (and taking them for a ride, given the massive* savings we'd reap!).
Each team would be banking on the players just needing a change of scenery in order to get their games back on track (or just plain old on track in Meyers' case).

*While I'm mostly into this fantasy for the cost savings, I'm not someone who thinks Meyers' contract is all that disastrous. A $5M difference isn't all that big. Shaving a year off would be the real benefit.

Butters would be 3rd string over there tho.

Itd be like if we traded Turner and Vonleh for Paul George and then traded Leonard, Davis, and Napier for Melo ava kept Crabbe.

Somehow I think our team would be a lot better than there's:

Lillard / McCollum
McCollum / Crabbe
George / Harkless
Melo / Aminu / Swanigan
Nurkic / Collins

That team could've beat Golden State.

Try to guess who I'm talking about before you open the spoiler:

With the way our offense is going to be ran this year (A lot more inside out), with the way Nurkic and this player I'm about to name can shoot, pass, and defend at a high level, with the way this player can defend PFs (which most people think he can't), and with this players team potentially not making the playoffs and looking to give him up at the trade deadline, I'd certainly look at making this guy our starting PF for the next couple years:
Marc Gasol
We'd have to trade Swanigan or Collins, but if we kept one of them they'd hypothetically be ready to take over the starting PF spot when his age starts to hit him. He and Nurkic would certainly give the Warriors fits on both sides of the ball due to their frontcourt of Draymond and Zaza/McGee. Inside-out basketball is probably the best way to beat Golden State (controlling the tempo is important). I think our defense would be absolutely nasty, and we'd always have a rim protector that can pass in the starting lineup (He would split time between PF and backing up Nurkic at C).

I've hinted at this idea before, I think he'd be a great addition.

Gasol is not going to leave Memphis and even if he did, there would be teams in the league willing to offer more than we have. Celtics would probably immediately offer the pick they will get from Philadelphia. Even Cavs could offer Nets pick.

I don't think Memphis will be shopping him though. He has spent his career there.

1st play he has him beat baseline, why the hell is he doing a stepback for ?
2nd play that spin move was ugly as fuck
I thought the same thing. The guy had a clear lane for an easy lay up or dunk and does the useless step back. It's probably a move he has been working on and just wanted to try it out in a game. Pre-season is the time for that after all.

If Pritchard had traded us George, we'd have gotten Melo for peanuts too. Fucker.

Crabbe is more comparable to Oladipo than Turner is (actually, really interesting to compare their advanced stats), so I'm sure he instead of Turner would have gone to Indy in a George deal. But even then, I doubt the Knicks would have taken Leonard as the centerpiece of a 'Melo trade. Assuming we're trying to hold onto Harkless, if we're trying to find something comparable to the Kanter/McDermott package they did accept--would they have taken Turner to replace Melo, with a side dish of Layman/Davis (for salary matching purposes)? Or even if they did insist on Harkless, and we had to include Meyers to match value...

You know, it's just too depressing to think about how much better this team could have been if Pritchard had been willing to deal with us.

What do Knicks need cap space for?

I liked Kyle a lot.

They're only projected to have under 5m in cap space next summer, and since they're rebuilding, they have no need for Lee.
