2 things that Memphis does they play as a team and the play defense that why they are always there.

Yup. I just would think after losing their long time coach, and some of their familiar stars (zbo, tony allen, etc) and Parsons turning up shit, they’d fall off a little..

I guess Conley is really underrated

Yup that’s a good comp. They are like the Spurs without the championship recently.

Have they had a season under 48 wins recently?
They remind me of the Spurs when Pop sits a star or two. It's the system. Watching Pat C be productive has me thinking that Stotts is starting to get his system in place.

I agree it does seem we always have an under the radar young guy that sorta emerges and does well. Barton, Crabbe, now Pat C.. only problem is Stotts is reaching the max amount of years a coach stays on one team. He’s at what 6 years now? That’s unheard of in this day in age, especially without a title on your resume..

I don’t think Stotts will last more than another year and half. So does that “system” we have continue any longer?

I think Stotts stays long term. It really depends on wether or not the new defensive intensity is here to stay. If what we've seen so far, in terms of defensive focus, is the new norm, then he'll be here for a long time.

When’s the last time a coach stayed on 1 team more than 7 years without a title? Jerry Sloan? And he even had multiple Finals appearances to justify his long term stay. It’s rare a coach stays longer than 7 years on 1 team without a title to his name, or bare minimum at least a Finals appearance..

It’s not even that I don’t like Stotts. He’s a solid top 10 coach in this league. Unfortunately this league turns them over a lot.

Dame, CJ and Nurkic all like playing for Stotts. The team is still young and improving. Now isn’t the time to change coaches. Besides which, who can the Blazers reasonably get who’s better?

I think it's relevant that his boss, who doesn't like to admit mistakes, hired him. He won't be fired unless something terribly goes wrong. Neil's done a great job of giving Terry young talent, and Terry has done a great job of developing that talent.

Yeah. I really don't see Terry giving way to somebody else unless it becomes obvious that young talent is back sliding. And that isn't the case at all. They have a system in place that seems to be working.

I never said he was a superstar lol. I said he was the best player on one of the worst teams. Borderline all star in the east probably.

I never said you said he was a superstar.

But did you think I think you think that? :MARIS61:

...will the NBA rule fairly here :dunno: suspensions -or- fine (or both)?!

I watched that game and I think it should stay as it is. I don't see anything that should cause a suspension or fine for either guy. They called it an offensive foul on Harden and double techs on each. I was actually shocked about that. I assumed a flagrant might be called on Chalmers for intentionally tripping Harden. I guess they couldn't tell that it was on purpose.

I like the comparison to Spurs for Memphis, no matter who is out there on the court they seem to always be competitive. Aside from Conley and Gasol the rest of their team consists of players you'd expect to struggle for Nets, yet they've managed to beat both Warriors and Rockets. I mean, Harrison, Martin or Ennis are hardly players you would expect to win many games.

Gasol is fantastic BTW. Such an elegant and intelligent player.

Pop has the same tendency of getting the best out of seemingly average playes. You see their line up and expect them to lose but then they produce a very good team performance and still win.

I watched Bucks last night, again Giannis was brilliant but they badly need a defensive center to protect the rim and rebound. Howard got 20 or 21 rebounds against them last night!

Ben Simmons had a triple double? God another selfish stat stuffer player smh...

I thought he was going to suck because he couldn't shoot?
I doubt you can find anyone who actually said that he would suck because he couldn't shoot. It would limit his potential if he can't find a consistant shot, just look at Rubio guy would be one of the best PG's in the league if he could shoot, but Simmons is going to be a top tier player whether he finds a consistent J or not.

Just sayin'. THIS would correct an error made on draft day 2012.
