You guys can't see motives.

I don't see why he's offended. He was massively overpaid by the Mavs. He should be having a wonderful summer!

We should be so lucky if our equivalent, Batum, would use the same self-motivation technique, and find something to play angry about.

Terry's attitude really bugs me. He gets 5.4 million dollars from the Kings this year and he disses on his teammate (even if mildly) and basically says he doesn't want to play for the Kings.

Read your own excerpt. He is trying to get the Kings to buy him out.

That kind of penny pinching trickery is why KD should and will leave that sorry ass franchise.

To play devil's advocate:

Isn't this kind of what many of us thought the D-League "farm" system should be about? I don't mean doing it in this kind of underhanded, seemingly exploitive manner. But that teams should be allowed (maybe required) to have a "farm team" and to have those players under contract, but not counting against their big league 15-man roster, and use the minor league team to develop prospects? They could call players up, and send players down. More trade fodder too. I do think the league should pay them more than the ridiculous $25K cited in the first article.

It seems like there's another successful sports league that uses a similar system.

If the players were in a farm system, then maybe. But this just reeks of avoiding guaranteed contracts and underpaying marginal talent by keeping a desperate kid hopeful.

As for that other sport, isn't it slowly rotting from the inside as its viewership trends older and older? And even if that doesn't matter, do we really expect the NBA to do anything other than half-ass it?

I agree with the first part. OKC at the very least is circumventing the system. I think there should be a system whereby they have to pay him to stash him for developmental purposes. And unless there is a system whereby all teams do the same thing on an equal playing field, it's cheating. And arguably cheating the player in the process.

As for the second part: IDK. I'm not a baseball fan. ;)

Aminu signs for 2 yrs at 1 mil per yr - another nice signing by the Mavs, would have liked to get him and get rid of one of our bench scrubs

He'd just be another bench scrub. I'd rather go after Marion. Why is he still available?

Finally looked old last year. A major drop-off for a guy who's game is predicated on springiness, at age 35, is pretty scary as a free agent signing.

It would be fine if he were really cheap, but the fact that he's still unsigned suggests that cheap offers won't get it done.

Marion looked awful when we played against him; he usually gives us fits but had nothing left. He posed us no problem.

"Victor Claver this year has had a difficult year in Portland but one that has strengthened him mentally," Orenga said via Fiba.com. “It's been a year of barely playing after a very good EuroBasket, both in defense and attack, and (he) had little or no court time. He's remained strong both physically and in the head. He is versatile and can play three (small forward) or four (power forward).”

Exciting Summer Blazer News:

Portland will be able to extend Barton a qualifying offer of $1.1 million at the conclusion of next season that will make him a restricted free agent. The Trail Blazers will be capable of retaining him by matching any offers competitors throw his way. The third year of his rookie contract became fully guaranteed on July 25 since the team elected not to waive him by that date, we’re told. This decision comes as no surprise. Barton will earn a little over $900,000 for the upcoming 2014-15 NBA season. CSNNW.com

Contract year? Sorry, Rolo.. you're losing all your rebounds. Will has got that covered.

I didn't realize Barton would become a restricted free agent; thats pretty cool. Only having a $1.1 million cap hold will give us a chance to first use cap room even if he deserves to be paid more.

Downside is how crazy some RFA contracts get; at times teams grossly overpay to get the player.

The more I think about it, the more It seems to me that Claver's best position is as a PF.

This isn't NBA news, but I didn't want to start a new thread: Nolan Smith is going to Turkey. (Galatasaray is a very famous Turkish club, at least as far as "soccer" is concerned.)

Probably the worst Blazers draft pick of the last 10 years. Oden was a beast just couldn't stay healthy. Meyers was another gamble with risk but a big reward. Babbitt at least had an NBA skill in deadly shooting. Nolan Smith somehow combined bust potential with nearly zero upside potential; thats a very difficult feat for a first round pick.

But to be fair, at least we gave up Rudy, the Professor and the rights to Faried for the right to draft him to back our other chip from that trade, the Hamburglar

Just says that we can do this, not that we already have. HOU did this with Parsons this summer and it came back to bite them in the ass.

Wow! Rumor was the Blazers where going after this guy.

P.J. Tucker was arrested in May for a "super extreme DUI" by Scottsdale police.

Tucker's blood alcohol content registered at .201 on a preliminary breath test in the field on May 10, according to Scottsdale police. A driver is considered legally drunk for a DUI charge in Arizona at .08 blood-alcohol content. A blood test administered after Tucker was taken to jail and later analyzed by Arizona DPS showed his blood alcohol-content to be .222, according to the police report. A super extreme DUI is .20 or more.

Last week, Tucker signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract ($12.7 million guaranteed) with the Suns. The Suns were aware of the charges before signing Tucker to his deal.

Really the Blazers were rumored to go after him where? A few people here wanted us to make a pitch to him but I dont recall any rumors of the Blazers ever actually trying to get him.

Sorry they where interested.

NBA Rumors: Portland Trail Blazers interested in P.J. Tucker, Anthony Morrow

http://fansided.com/2014/06/20/nba-...interested-p-j-tucker-anthony-morrow/#!bppjOY

Did you actually read that? Their "source" was a guy on Basketball Insiders saying he thought Tucker and Morrow would be good fits. There was nothing in there that even implied the Blazers ever had interest.

Fansided is generally as credible as a fan writing a post on a message board.

Less so, because (besides BGD) we at least think a bit about our idiotic trade machine posts.

In some ways it is so weird to see this tweet with these two names together like that ...
