Isn't that what people said about LeBron James in relation to Dwyane Wade when James joined Miami?

Not that I think Love will eclipse James and be the best player in basketball, but I think he'll probably pull his own weight.

Link? Nobody said that at all. At least I never heard it.

Agreed. Rose was already icing his both knees ala Brandon Roy. No play today, I do believe.

Scottie Pippen iced his knees for most of his career. Never had a significant knee injury. Dennis Rodman too.

Are you joking? I heard tons of fans say that James was a coward, couldn't win on his own so was going to ride the coattails of Wade.

Here's an example:

So Chris Bosh... who completely quit on the Toronto Raptors, says that LeBron James, who completely quit on the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Celtics in the playoffs, is using the (completely justified) criticism as fuel?
Good. Because apparently, based on James' cowardly feeing from Cleveland to hiding behind D. Wade's leg, being an all time great, being the MAN, being a leader and being the guy who brought a Championship to his home state weren't nearly enough motivation.
LeBron.... you aint Jordan, Magic or Bird now and no matter how many titles you manage to win riding Wade's coat-tails, you never, ever will be.

From the comments on this link.

One comment doesn't prove much (except disproving your bizarre contention that no one said that), but then, I'd have to make a full-time job of doing Google searches to prove that tons of people said it, which I'm not interested in doing. ;) I heard a ton of this. If you didn't, we had very, very different experiences of the sports on the Internet in 2010, heh.

I misread your post. I thought you were saying that Wade would be riding Lebron's coattails.

After re-reading the Houston Game 6 thread on Clutchfans, I felt like re-watching Game 6. This is going to be fun!

ill leave this here too, timeless!

Apparently Rajon Rondo has informed Boston that he "wants out". I bet he ends up in Sacramento.

Grizzlies just waived Jamaal Franklin. AKA "Will Barton without a jumpshot".

Not sure how I feel about this:

My first thought is that, since Jason Terry is a shell of his former self, it won't make much difference.

Obviously Sacto is just doing this as a precursor to landing Rondo...

the Kings would be fools to trade for Rondo because he doesn't want to be there and won't extend, he basically demanded a trade but not there.

I have to say that this style of meme is one of the best things the Internet has birthed.

Because baseball didn't work?

It was really just a social visit. As a has-been, he'd get the same workout at the Y. The only advantage to working out with Kobe is if you're in such great shape, you get nothing from working out with lesser NBA players.

OT: Tracy McGrady works out with Kobe Bryant as test for possible comeback

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/tracy-...test-for-possible-nba-comeback-024653910.html :MARIS61::MARIS61:

Retired seven-time All-Star Tracy McGrady worked out with Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant late this summer in a Southern California gymnasium, testing the preparedness of his body for a possible NBA comeback attempt.

"Yes, I was working out with K.B. to get in shape and see how my body feels," McGrady told Yahoo Sports in an email Tuesday night.

Bryant and McGrady, 35, worked out three days a week for a period of time in August, several sources, including McGrady, told Yahoo.

At least two NBA teams were contacted over the summer about their potential interest in McGrady, but none registered a desire to further explore the possibility, league executives told Yahoo Sports.

McGrady is contractually obligated to a lucrative basketball tour of China in October, which would make it impossible for him to try and make an NBA team in training camp. McGrady is still an immensely popular figure in China, dating back to his partnership with Yao Ming on the Houston Rockets.
"The comeback will not happen, unless I have the drive whenever I get back," McGrady told Yahoo in the email.

Knee and back injuries had taken their toll on McGrady's reedy body, causing diminished durability and performance late in his career.

McGrady had been unable to get a guaranteed NBA contract for the 2012-13 season and instead played in China. Upon McGrady's return from the China Basketball Association that April, the San Antonio Spurs signed him on the final day of the regular season to join their playoff roster. He didn't play any meaningful minutes on the team's run to the NBA Finals.

McGrady publicly retired from the NBA in August 2013.

McGrady made a short-lived professional baseball debut in the spring, spending several weeks as a starting pitcher with the Sugarland Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.

In his 15-year NBA career, McGrady won two regular-season scoring titles and was selected first- or second-team All-NBA five times. He made the leap from high school to the NBA in 1997, when he was chosen ninth overall by the Toronto Raptors.
