Are Meyers and Butler that close that they sit next to each other and discuss the game?
There were times players said in Portland that Meyers was one of the most knowledgeable players on the team about other players and scouting reports.

That blows my mind with how clueless he looks on the court at all times. That being said, I've always been better at ideas than their practical application so maybe it's just a case of that or it could just be performance anxiety.

Boston is showing us the value of having multiple guys between 6'6 and 6'9 who can all dribble, pass, and shoot, while also being able to defend.

these are the kinds of guys we desperately need and should target in the draft/FA/trades.

Seems like a lot of teams have 2-3 guys who fit that criteria better than anyone on our roster. Such a huge disadvantage.

Tough call. Bam, Butler, Jokic, Murray, and yeah LeBron look good too.
Bam, Butler, and Jokic are no where near the level AD is. They've had good playoff performances, im not basing AD on these playoffs alone.

Try looking at the positive for a change. Veterans don't have the same upside, but they're often the difference makers in the playoffs, where experience and demeanor have elevated importance.

ok...I don't disagree

what I was talking about was how it could be that Denver was better than the team Portland beat in the playoffs 18 months ago. Jokic was 23, Harris was 24, and Murray was 21. Their individual trajectories were just starting their upward arcs; same for the trajectory of the core. They just had a much bigger slope of upside ahead of them. Dame is 30 and CJ is 29. And Nurkic is 26. The two teams were extremely close in development last season. It would be expected that Denver had more room for improvement

that doesn't mean Blazer players can't get better. Dame certainly upped his game from last season to this one, but CJ sure appears to have plateaued. Nurkic has room for improvement and he really needs to maximize that

I do think Jokic is near the level of AD but I don't think they are on the same level AD is much better when you look at both ends of the floor. I definitely don't see any of the other guys being anywhere close to AD (Bam and Murray are ridiculous to even be talking about, that's just recency bias). AD is the best besides LeBron and Giannis who are obviously on a different level than everyone else at this point.

also showing the value of having the #3 pick in consecutive drafts for two of the most impactful players in their lineups.
The Sixers picked 1st and the Lakers picked 2nd in both 2016 and 2017.
As Blazer fans, we should know having good picks doesn't guarantee anything. We could have been the 76ers with two first picks taking Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz.

I would say the Blazers did better than the sixers with Layman and Collins but i guess nobody around here likes Zach anymore.

A toe injury has Jake layman out for this last season but i just read that they still have very high hopes for him. He is the 6-8 athletic wing that can shoot everyone seems to think this team needs. There was also a guy who was a 6-5 athletic shooter that plays defense in Pat Connaughton that is no longer here.

One of my biggest problems with this team is them putting 2-3 years into developing decent players and letting them walk because they become "Too Expensive" but in the end have the highest payroll in the league anyway?

I think there's a serious case to be made that AD is as good as Giannis. It's just that they play such different games for such similar-sized and athletic players. Funny that AD is the one who plays more like a traditional big man, despite being guard-sized before his ridiculous growth spurt in high school.
Of course, for all the shit Giannis is getting now, he took his team to the #1 record in the league, something AD never did in New Orleans, when he was the #1 option.

certainly no guarantee we pick the best available player or their health is good, but the pool of talent is considerably better the higher your draft selection. the last time we had a pick as high as the #6 we got Damian Lillard.

What is it about Caruso that's so annoying? Why don't I view him as a feel-good story instead of an annoying punk? What's wrong with me?

I never want to hear basketball fans make fun of "soccer" players for diving ever again.

Ditto. I also have the same problem with Kuzma. I think part of it is that on any other team they’re just totally forgettable. Playing with LeBron and AD lets them look better than they are. Simple answer though is that they’re Lakers. You really don’t need more reason than that.

What are you talking about G league? This dude was a projected top pick and dropped only because of a questionable back and is ballin like it was expected of him

He’s talented, but at this point in his career it’s laughable to say he needs his own team. Even talented rookies need time to develop. Playing with Murray and Jokic is an ideal situation for him.
