How come? Only time he's getting to the conference finals is when he's got 3 HOF players and an all-defense PG. Portland will never get that type of talent.
While I'm not in favor of hiring Doc, one advantage he has is that he wins polls of "Coach I'd most like to play for" among players.

I bet Doc ends up in Milwaukee.

EDIT: forgot Philly. If any team is in need of Ubuntu... It'll be one of Philly, Milwaukee or Houston, for sure. Of course, he should be in no hurry as he's got two more years of Ballmer money coming to him.

Not with that outlook, they won’t!

But seriously, we could use a change. This team isn’t even close to better than the one Olshey inherited on Day 1 (AFTER drafting Dame, but still...). He’s had time. Terry has had time. Teams have risen and fallen in the time those guys have been here. Something new would be nice...

Bad look for the league: one fewer black coach, and firing the guy who gave THIS viral speech:

Props to Butler and the G- League/ Rookies. That is doing a lot with not much.
You're just kidding right? I mean Dragic is a one time All-Star and one time All NBA Third teamer, he leads the team in minutes played and ppg in the playoffs. Bam is a lottery pick, he was a high school McDonald's all-american, he was a one and done from Kentucky, he's in his third season, he's another all-star and he leads the team in both rebounds and assists in the playoffs. Jae Crowder is a solid NBA veteran who everyone knows. They have Olynyk and Iggy too. None of these guys, all of whom are in the rotation, fit the description of D-Leaguers and Rookies. The only position in the rotation that fits that description is their starting and backup SG.

This is a quality team that will lose in 5.

Big Blockbuster with the Pacers. Do they do it and would you do it? I know I would.

I think this makes us a better team defensively and we don't lose a lot of offense. Obviously according to tradenba there is no projected change in wins for either team and that's usually a sign that the deal isn't too lopsided either way. In CJ and Nurk, they get a lot for Oladipo and Turner. Nurk is the better overall player than Turner and I thnk CJ is the better player than Oladipo overall. It's just a matter of fit and I think this trade would make our team more cohesive and give the Pacers a ton of value in return for the guys they send out. We do get Warren and that is a big deal but they get the value of either having Trevor next season and cap space after that or Trevor's expiring contract to trade at the deadline along with a the upgrade at both other positions. I think all of that is worth including Warren.

I would NOT do that trade.

Interesting. I haven't seen this, but I believe you. If true, I think that does matter. Also, I don't think the Clippers would've let him go unless their two best players signed off on it.

I hope we do get 3 HOF players and a DPOY candidate, but it hasn't happened in 50 years, so I'm not counting on it.

So you want Stotts gone (not going to take issue with that), but want to replace him with a guy who has proven he can't win with multiple all-stars. We have 1 all-star, why would you think Doc would all of a sudden lead us to the promise land? There has to be better options!

I agree. It just feels like without a big name nothing will ever change. I think I’m just antsy.

just a bit of trivia:

Denver took Beasely with the 19th pick of the 2016 draft. This was Portland's pick they acquired in the Afflalo trade

they took Beasley when Caris Lavert, Pascal Siakam, and Malcolm Brogdon were available. The next season they drafted Donovan Mitchell but traded him for Trey Lyles.

in other words, the Nuggets could have Murray, Donovan Mitchell, Jeremai Grant, Pascal Siakam, and Jokic in the starting lineup with Milsapp, Plumlee, Porter and Harris coming off the bench
And Neil Olshey is an idiot.....

I'm sure you're correct. Maybe someone should have reminded Leonard that the "Super Friends" didn't win a title their first season in Miami. Did they throw Pat Riley under the bus or did they accept responsibility for the loss and come back stronger?

Did I miss this discussion?

Where there is smoke there is fire:

There has reportedly been some locker-room fighting with players calling each other out, rolling their eyes at each other, and pretty much showing that they truly never were on the same page, to begin with.

And now, Kawhi Leonard’s personal trainer Clint Parks is just adding even more fuel to the fire, as he was spotted calling out Leonard’s teammate on Twitter, going as far as to call Montrezl Harrell a ‘double agent’ and questioning Paul George’s basketball IQ:
