Aminu can't even get minutes on lottery teams since we got rid of him - amazing we made it to the WCF with Harkless and Aminu as our starting forwards.
You might almost think it might of had something to do with the coaching that season huh?

Crabbe and Simons are not even remotely the same type of player.

The only significant difference is that Simons is more athletic, which I've mentioned in my posts.

We're the same fan base that gave up on Trent after his 2nd year, many people believes Collins wouldn't receive a decent contract, and he did. Maybe we're not the best judge of talent on here?

I don't know if "we" did all that. I didn't give up on Trent, though I never wanted to give him a major contract extension and for much the same reason as Crabbe and Simons. The Blazers seem good at finding stand-still three-point shooters who can't defend or do much of anything else well.

As for Collins, I never had any real opinion on whether he'd get a decent contract. He's a serviceable big but often injured--that kind of player could go either way in terms of hunting for small deals or finding a team that values what he does and believes he'll be healthy for them.

Hey here is a chance to use the word that everyone uses to sound really knowledgeable.

Scheme. It was the scheme they were using.

the same can be said of quite a few deals given out that summer. no excuse, but we weren't the only ones handing out these contracts:

Drummond-- 5yrs 130 mil, on a minimum now
Batum -- 5 yrs 120 mil, on a minimum now
Whiteside -- 4 yrs, 98 mil, on a minimum now
Dwight -- 3 yrs 71 mil, on a minimum now
Parsons- 4yrs, 99 mil, out of league
Bazemore -- 4yrs 70 mil, on a minimum now
Ryan Anderson -- 4 yrs 80 mil, out of league
Biyombo -- 4 yrs 72 mil, minimum
Mozgov -- 4 yrs 65 mil, out of league
Luol Deng -- 4yrs 72 mil, out of league
Noah -- 4 yrs, 72 mil, out of league
etc etc etc.

the market was out of whack that year. Just a shame that we had most of our FAs up for contracts that summer. Similar to what I foresee happening with Simons and his eventual retention here, most of this was an asset play of not wanting to lose homegrown talent for nothing. (i realize we did that with Zach, but were it not for his injury history, i think he woulda received a contract here. Dude is STILL in a walking boot).

Its so crazy how many of these contracts are Blazers related.

Batum signed his deal after spending 7 of 8 years in Portland.
Whiteside we tried to sign in 2016; then later acquired in a trade.
Parsons we offered the same deal and thought we would sign him until he got Memphis to offer the same so he could choose them.
Bazemore we acquired in a trade.

Then of course Crabbe, Meyers, Harkless and Turner we signed. We eventually traded all of them away as mistakes.

Neil ended up highly involved with about half of the epically shitty 2016 free agent contracts. I always thought he should be fired for that 2016 offseason... I just can't believe how it is even worse every time you look at it.

"Oh sorry, that is wrong. The correct answer is.....Dame."

What if we win 50 games this season? New Coach or Dame? 1 or the other right?

It has VERY little to do with the Regular season. I'm guessing you know that but maybe the lawnmower noise prevented comprehension. This team should make the Playoffs for the 9th year in a row....big freakin deal. How about we not lose in the 1st round, ( a rare feat) or if we do advance, play like we didn't fluke our way to the next round and get run out of the building like we had no business being there.

Dame is a tremendous talent with some weaknesses....that is what it is. He is one of the Top-10 players in the league. But what else from a team standpoint? Dame can will wins in the Reg season and once in a while, the same in the Playoffs. But this franchise needs more from the rest of the players AND more from the coach.

Now go empty the catch basket onto the flower bed for good mulch.

Just going to throw this out there. You do understand the response will be what if we win 50 games and lose in the first round again. Dame or Coach?
It can even go further and say what happens if they get swept out? Dame or Coach.

Be careful. Tough to argue this conversation until we know what we truly have here.

I see that two really good organizations, Spurs and Warriors, just signed guys to two-way contracts. There is no downside to this. Why doesn't our GM do it?

I don't think most fans worry about the end of the bench. Sure, you'd like a Lakers situation where you have talented ring chasers who except bottom dollar, and maybe see the floor once a week at the most. That ain't gonna happen in rip city. Most of those ring chasers are literally paying to to be on that team due to higher cost of living. Unless they're all shackin' up with LeBron. Watford is probably the closest to having a playable game at this moment. I'm more concerned with the health of the team going forward. I would love to have a dead eye shooter to strengthen the bench. Someone like JJ Reddick . But i'm not gonna lose sleep worrying about who's in the, 13th to 15th ,roster spots as two way players.

Bingo!

perfectly said.

Ben Simmons got ejected from practice lol. Practice, Practice. Not a real game but Practice.

Sounds like things are going exactly as planned for the 76ers. He'll be back in their good graces within the week!
I thought the Sixers were smarter than this. I said earlier in the Summer that they were on the clock and that they had to get something done before camp. Well they thought they were slick and could get Simmons' value higher and now they have a fucking circus and every other GM in the league has more leverage.

Edit: Also they should tell Embiid to shut the fuck up about "babysitting" and not caring about Simmons or fine his ass.

I wonder if Simmons and Doc have met and cleared the air about what was said by Doc at the end of last season? It's pretty obvious that Simmons being kicked out is being leaked by Doc or one of the coaches. Morey didn't leak this and if Simmon leaked it there would be a different narrative. Not excusing what Simmons did but it's strange this came leaking out of the Sixers today.
