I heard the Laker's like to have Werther's Originals at half time, just a rumor.

Warriors played like shit and still won. Clank after clank. Golden State just had more energy.

Westbrick can be an effective player IF they bring him off the bench to minimize his on court time with LBJ. Of course, that is unlikely to happen....

That's basically the story of Westbrook--he's a good player to have if all you have around him is scrubs, but he scales very poorly alongside other stars/superstars.

So yeah--the Lakers would be best off letting him lead a second unit when both James and Davis are on the bench, but you're right, that'll never happen.

There were a ton of turnovers in that game tonight...Warriors were pretty sloppy with the ball but the Lakers would give it right back to them....both teams can be beat from the looks of tonights effort

Both teams are going to be significantly better than this. The Lakers are integrating all new players around LeBron and AD so there's going to be a big learning curve and they're missing Ariza and Horton-Tucker. So expect that team to find their way to play more cohesive ball, I don't know if it will completely come together but they're obviously just figuring shit out. The Warriors will get Klay back at some point... we don't know what Klay will look like after two consecutive devastating injuries but he could be really good and make a huge difference. It was a sloppy game one of the season for both teams, that's pretty normal. IF tonight is the best they got then they are both very beatable but that's a big if.

10 years ago this Lakers team would’ve won 80 games.

Carmelo, Jordan, Howard and Rondo?

washed, washed, washed and washed
2014 would've been perfect for this team. AD's second season, prime Westbrook, Howard still very effective.

It's not about integrating all NEW players around LeBron and AD. It's about integrating all BAD players around LeBron and AD. What they're "figuring out" is that they're no good which was obvious in August when they made these moves. The smart Lakers fans know they're offseason was an utter disaster.

It's not about integrating all NEW players around LeBron and AD. It's about integrating all BAD player around LeBron and AD. There's no solution except for a trade.
We'll have to wait and see on that. I think if he's playing the right role, Russ is still a really good player. I think Bazemore can give them a lot. Ariza could get healthy and can still play D and shoot the three. Monk and Ellington both space the floor. I actually really like Nunn's game. So I don't think they have all bad players around them. I don't know if the team can stay healthy long enough to figure out how to best play with each other but if they do... there's a reason why a lot of experts pick them to come out of the West.

Wow. Bazemore is awful. One of the worst players in the entire NBA. Monk and Ellington could help but will they get minutes over Melo? Nunn is a good player for playing with LeBron but will he get minutes over Westbrook and Rondo? That's the problem. They gave up perfect fits like Caruso and KCP for old players who are less effective. Russ was fine on the Wizards last year but he is the wrong match for this Lakers roster. A horrible horrible acquisition. By the way, just watch. The Wizards will be better this year if Dinwiddie is healthy.

I think LeBron James used his power unwisely. The Lakers were on the verge of using basically the package they sent to Washington for Westbrook to get Buddy Hield from Sacramento. Hield isn't as splashy a name as Westbrook, but he would have fit into LA's offense perfectly (and defensively, well, he's as uninterested as Westbrook). But James had to have Westbrook, because Westbrook is more famous. Maybe James can ruminate on that when Westbrook is shooting LA out of a game, or when James has to navigate through a packed paint because there's no one out on the perimeter that defenses respect.

If you have a bunch of old players with injuries even at game 0, they won't get healthier after 82 games.

We should enjoy mocking the Lakers while we have the chance - there's not going to be much of the season where we have a better record than them.

The thing about Westbrook is that he's always ass when he starts with a new team, but then by the second half of the season he always turns it around (see Washington for most recent example).

Until the playoffs, of course.

Except for the fact that there's only one guard.

Knowing that, who on that list (after game 1) would you predict to be relegated to the second team by season's end?
Durant was a SG his rookie year (which is probably partly why he's got such good handles - you can thank PJ Carlesimo for that).
