It's like people don't understand that these are businesses and businesses exist to make money. Not make people feel good.

If Disney on Ice will pull in more profit, they get the building. The WNBA isn't popular. It doesn't make enough money. I don't think sexism has anything to do with it. If people think they deserve better then maybe they should go out and spend money to make it more profitable.

Hard Truth!
I tried to watch WNBA. Gave it all i had. Sorry ladies. I can watch boys High School basketball and get more excitement.
I might get roasted for this but Women's sports are exactly that. Women playing sports.

Not sure what you mean by the last sentence.... sure its true, and mens sports are men playing sports.

There are plenty of awesome women sports. Tennis, Skiing, Golf, pole vaulting, MMA, beach volleyball, ice skating, soccer.

I'm not a fan of womans basketball, and I agree the teams are not entitled to play in arenas if their revenue model's don't support it. Similarly there are plenty of mens sports with little to no commercial opportunities such as Greco-Roman wrestling.

You forgot to add Gymnastics and you probably could just say Track and Field instead of Pole Vaulting. Yes there are some fantastic athletes that are women. Sure.

Damn that means Disney on Ice is a bigger draw than the WNBA playoffs. That's a pretty big indictment on the WNBA as a product... not as a sport but just as a revenue generating business model.
Doesn't necessarily mean it's a bigger draw. Just that they were already contracted to use the arena. The Spurs famously take a long road trip each NBA season because the rodeo comes to town, and uses the stadium. The Bulls, at least used to, have a circus tour, where they took a long trip because the circus came to town and used their stadium.

Seems more likely a scheduling error on the part of Phoenix, perhaps, not reserving the rights to the stadium.
Or, maybe the stadium reserves the rights to bump them, I'm not positive.

Anyone notice that TNT has started showing some Thursday night NHL now?

Actually I hadn't thought of that comparision yet.... I expect the Lakers to be under their 51 wins and seemingly national consensus as west favorites. Blazers should be over their 44 wins and have more talk as team that with a few lucky breaks can compete in the west. However the Blazers do have some very real risk as well, they certainly aren't a favorite to contend.

If one of Bron or Davis miss significant time the Lakers will have a losing record, they just aren't deep enough. We saw that last year the Lakers couldn't stand injuries to those guys and barely made the playoffs; then in the summer they lost three good role players in KCP, Kuzma, Harrell for only Russ resulting in even less depth. Their vet min signing are fine, but those guys are not starter/6th man quality as they had on their title team.

If Dame misses time the Blazers might be able to scrape by with a near .500 record. They still would have five top100 SI players while the Lakers would have only one plus Russ.

So to answer your question; I say if Bron and Davis play every game without limitations the Lakers would be a few wins better than the Blazers; but I think odds are against that so I'd pick the Blazers to finish better.

As the season goes on I think the Lakers change their goals to "lets get healthy for the playoffs and make our stand there, even as a low seed". The Blazers will have more to prove in the regular season and more players that can deliver over 82 games.
They lost Caruso too.

Maybe the arena league would have taken off if they had the dudes in banana hammocks?

is this you?
