s'ok, im not sure i asked it correctly.
the problem is when i save an image to use for something else... i need to erase a bunch of the uneeded stuff in the image. i was using the eraser tool, which was working just fine to leave me an invisible background. but something changed, now its not leaving me an invisible background, its leaving me a colored background & i cant figure out what i did to change that....

i just started using fireworks to do that step & thats working just fine as a PNG file

Hey Sasha,
I noticed in RJ 21's sig that it shows what song he is currently playing and/or what he just listened to. How do I create that kind of .PNG file in my sig just like that as it keeps getting updated even when I'm not changing it. It also says he's offline when he is offline. How do I do that?

Best regards,
All-Star.

HOD, what color is the background. If it is white, that means you saved it as a .JPEG? If it is a different color then you are viewing it from an IE operated browser that does not recognize .PNG's. If it is none of these things then I don't know or just don't understand your question fully.

All-Star, that's something he probably updates himself or has written/recevied a code from that radio website. I am not really an expert with coding of any kind, so I wouldn't know.

I'm sure RJ can tell you more, but it's related to his winamp skin, which can create a little png from what song you're playing, and I suppose he has something set up to beam it to there. Not having used winamp in a long time, I'd be the wrong person to ask how to set this up entirely. www.gerpok.com

Sorry man, I'm not too experienced with Fireworks. As for the signature, it looks pretty decent, only thing I would say to do is brighten the pictures a little bit, they look like the opacity on them has been lowered.

First save the picture. Then when you open PS, create a layer and place the logo in there, then create a new layer for everything else you want to add. Layers are the key to Photoshop, without them, the room for creation is almost nonexistant.

Question

Do you guyz use brushes or filters for your BGs in your sigs? If anyone uses brushes can someone teach me how to use them?

Filters but you can use brushes too. It looks good together. =D

To use brushes, just download them off a brush site, install them and then use them. It's pretty simple.

LOL I'm more filters its easier for me...I have brushes but I dont know how to use them and make it look good.

Just go crazy and brush. Use each brush only once(I think)

Trust me I've tried I suck with brushes.

Hey Sasha, I PM'd you this but you didn't reply, probably because I should of posted it here.

If I use a image from Getty Images (their pics are all the same size and big), how do I make an avatar, by just using the face, with part of the neck and jersey? Everytime I try to reduce the size, the image looks blurry.

Brushes suck! They're a space filler, create something, don't use others products.

Sasha your my new best friend.

People told me to use brushes to make better BGs lol.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllenIverson3:</div><div class="quote_post">How do you get the Pattern Stamp Tool up on the toolbar? I can`t find it.</div>
You can't get it on the toolbar, it has to stay in the tools pallete.

Extract (cut) a part of the picture and place it in your 80x80 canvas. You still might have to resize it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bhavin:</div><div class="quote_post">Do you use brushes or filters? Or both?</div>
I just use filters at times, no brushes, brushes are the work of the devil!

Ask Sasha? Ok:

What gender will my first born be?
wink.gif

Just kidding. I don't have a specific question for my own use, but since everyone is asking so much from you Sasha, I wanted to give you something to talk about:

What is your favorite effect to use and why?
wink.gif

Female. Hmm, that's a toughie, there are so many good filters out there. I would say the Motion Blur, it can enhance any kind of images.

Do you know which colors tend to cause greater increases in file size?
I've recently wanted to try animations and so far have only succeeded in creating one that was under 100kb (which basically involved a black/white/gray background with relatively few other colors. The animation was something like 8 or 9 frames though.

I know yellow/green tends to, but would you happen to know? Or is there a way to reduce file size I don't know about? I'm using Photoshop and ImageReady btw

The animated sig is the jason kidd one here:

Brighter colors tend to make a graphic higher in size.

JUSTBBALL DOES NOT ALLOW ANIMATIONS IN AVATARS/SIGNATURES! Please read the guidelines.

oh ok

wont use it, and nobody is using it either
smile.gif
thanks for the heads up though

I am a beginer and have a question that may seem stupid to you...How do you make a border on a sig or av....

Select the outermost parts of your graphics while only leaving one pixel on the outside, and go to Edit>Stroke. Choose a 1 pixel border, and your choice of color, preferably black.

This is my post from the rate the avatar thread, and I had a few questions:

SL14.jpg

I tried to add horizontal text on the left, but something was wrong with my Acknowledge text. The spacing between the letters made itseem like it was double spaced some how. I was wondering if you would know how to fix this

And how do you scale a pic to 80 x 80 without scaling it for 10 hours. Each time I type in 80 x 80 at the top, the dimensions mess up?

Thanks

Ok Sasha, time for me to ask a serious question.

I have a corporate logo that I want to jazz up. The effect I want apperently can't be used on fonts specifically.

Is there some way around this, or do I have to trace the font and use it as if it weren't a preset?
